Court: Towns have right to trump state in fracking law

Ohio can do the same thing you fools. Just rewrite the state laws to allow local communities to have a say and tell the industry to mind their own dang business and shut up. Get Kasich out of there too, the guy is getting rich from all this. No charter amendment would be needed and it does not ban fracking only allows those it affects to have the legal right to say if they want it in their town or not. And ignore people like UticaShale and ohvoter13, they are trying to fool you and it is working to a point. The industry will fight this to the death because they know many communities do not want it nor citizens and there profits will go down, simple as that. Again don't fall into their trap and use your own judgement/.

Anti-fracking charter amendment soundly defeated in Youngstown

Soundly defeated by less then 1,000 votes out of less then 7,000 total votes? Who wrote the headline. It proves that if you spend more money then the other side you will get the vote to swing your way. That is a insult to democracy and shows agaisnt how greedy people often are. Sammrone, the chamber of commerence, Betras and everyone else are paid off by the industry and none of them deserve to ever run again. I can bet you they have had illegal kickbacks right from the industry. half of these people are the same ones that after the whole Lupo ordeal wanted more local control, a few even signed the petition to put it on the ballot. Something is fishy there and we all now what that means given our regions history of corruption. The fight is far from over and the big shale gas companies will lose just like in New York and California where there are statewide bans on any shale gas drilling.

May 7th proves you really can buy votes. When you outspend the opposition 60 to 1 you will et the result you want. congrats for lying to people and getting just enough votes to get your way for now but this fight is not over. Expect to see it back on the ballot this September when people will actually vote. less then 6,000 out of 70,000 total people is a insult.

Understanding city’s charter amendment

Actually the hope is this will make the state legislature rethink not allowed local communties have any say on what they want and do not want going in their community. They like;ly have been coropted by the industry and the promise of big money coming into the state which if it even happens will likely not come back here in large amounts. Have little faith are state lawmakers will do anything but it is their final say.

We leased 22 acres on the east side of Jacobs Road, just south of McGuffey Road in Youngstown. Is

And as agr as I know there was little oppostion to their amedments and the voters approved them with a very wide margin. The same thing would happen here but do to the oppostion spewing their so called facts people may get confused and either not vote or vote the other way which is the whle goal behind what the oppostion is hoping will happen.

Anti-fracking groups dismiss drilling certification as ‘publicity stunt’

Hm off topic talk. The only purpsoe for that is they have nothing to say about fracking that has not already been said 1000 times and been shown to be incoreec 1000 times. Who cares what oh13 and UticShale says, there words on here shows they are not close to being credible.

No there has not but there was talk of doing it. It stopped when people spoke out against it. If your kind had their way they that would not be allowed and the cemetery would have been fracked.

Because you aren't a lawyer and therefore do not know. You only hear from others against the amendment that it is not enforceable and therefore repeat what you have heard or been told. I am not a laywer either so I do not know and therfroe will not claim one way or the other, maybe you should do the same.

Anti-fracking groups dismiss drilling certification as ‘publicity stunt’

But how amny jobs and what about the fact that many will fail drugs tests and not get a job? Anyone consider that nasty fact? Doubt it as people for fracking will say that is not really a issue but it is. As for the job numbers they are much higher coming from the industry and their supporters then those against fracking or the deparment of labor. Go figure. Npo one really can say how many jobs this will generate since some count jobs directly related to the industry and others count hotel jobs, bars, etc that may be added to feed entertain and house the potnetial influx of employyes. Notice I say potnetial since again to date this has not occured in large numbers and most likely never will around here.
