Whoa Vindy...I really think that you need to do some more homework before you end up in a situation where you're being sued for libel. I can almost guarantee you that this guy was RIF'd (laid off) at the end of this year. Which means that he probably went and found a new job somewhere else where he obviously can't read his name being dragged through the mud. I thought that you were out of line with the original article but this is just rediculous.
If you're trying to prove how inept the YCS school board and administrators are, feel free. But please don't rely solely on Wendy Webb's word regarding whether or not this man was under contract because I seriously doubt that he was.
One more thing...according to my brother who teaches in Akron, this guy is not teaching anywhere in that school district as was previously reported .
One more thing. I'd be willing to bet that he was not getting paid this school year. Of course he was "suspended without pay". What are they going to do? Suspend him with pay? Of course not, but that does not mean that he's been paid since the beginning of the school year.
Okay, before we all play our favorite game of "bash the teacher" here's what I'm thinking. He was not tenured and was on a "limited contract" which means that we was more than likely one of the teachers to be "RIFed" (reduction in force) in June. He then probably went on like a productive member of society to find another job in Akron. I'm guessing that since he was on a yearly contract and was effectively laid off, he probably didn't think that he needed to resign. Then they called him back and he'd since moved to Akron and is no longer at his local address. Now, why the board took this long to officially take him off of their rolls, I have no idea. Just think about this a minute before you all go into your lengthy rants about how worthless the people your children spend their days with are.
Thank you for noticing! I was employed as a teacher when I had my first baby last year. Now I stay at home with her and am self-insured along with my husband and baby as my husband is self-employed. In order to add maternity coverage to our policy we had to add a "maternity rider" for an additional $150 per month. It pays 80/20 with a $1500 deductible in addition to the $3000 deductible of our regular plan. For the plan and the rider we pay $500 per month in premiums. Also. the maternity rider comes with a 270 day waiting period.
I read somewhere (wish that I could remember where now) that if we were to add maternity to all policies it would add $7 to everyone's premiums.
Okay, yeah you might not be of childbearing age or even remotely interested in having children but isn't it worth $7 to you that your neices, nephews, friends, daughters and sons can have babies without going broke?
Just thought that I'd share because before we entered into this frightening world of private insurance I NEVER in a million years thought that having a baby wouldn't be covered.
Great...and what do they suppose will happen to uninsured people (who could easily be you or I tomorrow)? Are they just hoping that they die on their way out to those fabulously greener pastures known as McClurg Road? Well, ain't that America? This makes me sad.

Who exactly are the 25% of "voters" that think Northside should be closed? Are you kidding me? What is your motivation?

Very well said Vindy...I've been wondering where our elected officials have been on this.

Last sentence...you have qualms or you have NO qualms? I'm confused. given the body of the editorial. What am I misunderstanding?
