I was told this a few years back by a retired Austintown Fitch teach, no preventative maintenance on the air handlers at the high school. Also, superintendent stated on the local news that warm water is run through the pipes in the winter, then how in the world does warm water freeze? You turned the heat off! This is out right fraud on the part of the schools system perpetrated against the citizens of Austintown. Does anyone remember that Austitown Schools needed a levy after building the new middle school because they supposedly could not afford to run the NEW school.

How are people on fixed incomes supposed to be able to afford these costs? Hopefully, those in power will allow low income home owners the chance to set up a payment plan.

That is a good idea, Youngstown wont be able to blackmail them into a JEDD!

I am not so sure Youngstown needs the income. Has anyone driven down Meridian Road Lately? Lots of new business there and still Meridian Road is one of the most unfit four lane roadways I have ever had the displeasure of driving on. Wasn't the JEDD with Girard and Liberty enough to fix this road?. Not to mention that many years ago Youngstown had a shot at River Boat Gambling down near B&O Station and the citizenry had a fit at the very mention of the idea. Niles could also use the income and being that they are also part of MVSD, I'd rather see them get the JEDD than these blackmailing thugs in Youngstown. Ask Liberty and Girard citizens if they have seen any favorable action from the JEDD's with Youngstown after all, they blackmailed those communities too!

When I was in school; if I had written an article that used the word "said" this many times, I would have been given an "F"

Congratulations on adding more people to the unemployment lines. I have no doubt that the backers of the "Racino" are the motivational and finacial backers of the new laws. Sounds a lot like some kind of syndicate to me. AKA Organized Crime!

Terrific! Now we will have people coming down the on ramps at 45 MPH trying to merge with 70 MPH traffic! They should be posting "Minimum Merge Speed" at the ends of the ramps. Too many gas misers trying to squeeze that last ounce of petrol for everything it's worth so it takes them 2 miles to get up to traffic speed. They are going to get some one killed this way! Start writing tickets for this and the state wont need to leverage funds. Three tickets for this in a three month period and you get special plates that prohibit you from being on the expressway.

The heart breaking event that took place yesterday in Newton Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary is beyond words. I am enraged that this has happened and that the lives of these children have been cut short by such unspeakable evil. Lord; why the children?! My heart aches for the mothers who bore these precious ones and the fathers of these very precious children. I cannot imagine nor do I want to imagine their pain.
That being said I want to take a moment to address those who have taken this unspeakable tragedy and turned it into a political opportunity. SHAME one you! The bodies of these little ones had not even been removed from their school when you started to beat the political drums and point the finger's! Shame on you Congress Woman Carolyn McCarthy! Shame on you Governor. Michael Bloomberg! Shame on you Michael Huckabee. You have no decency! At this time, this day, this weekend, instead of pointing fingers and beating political drums we should be doing everything we can to comfort and console the inconsolable, the parents who after this day will never again tuck their little ones into bed, never open the carefully chosen Christmas or birthday presents, never graduate...... Shame on you; shame on you all!

Hey Dan,I have worked as a truck driver serving that area, and I can agree traffic is a head ache there, 224 is a complete write off, instead, do everything you can to protect Western Reserve Road and develope it into a "by-pass" for the area. You'll regret it if you dont!
