Hey Dan, I have worked as a truck driver serving that area, and I can agree traffic is a head ache there, 224 is a complete write off, instead, do everything you can to protect Western Reserve Road and develope it into a "by-pass" for the area. You'll regret it if you dont!
What about the simple 6.5% sales tax that would go into the economy in the area that is currently going to other areas? Has any of you even driven buy the Wal-Mart location in the past two years?
That was the old Phar-More building and it has been EMPTY for years! How about the corner of Belmont and Trumbull Hill? Stambaughs is GONE, no competition in the area to blame for it. K-Mart is also gone! There used to be a bank there too. GONE! There is supposed to be plans for a new company moving into this site, but would you build there knowing what is going on with Wal-Mart and JEDD-EYE Jay Williams? I think not! So Youngstown's blight will continue to travel up Belmont Ave. and Trumbull Ave. and 422 Etc. Thank's Mayor Jay; For NOTHING. Literally NOTHING
I have worked my fair share of jobs; union and non union, and I can tell you that if you force seven sick days on these companies many people will abuse them, and companies will leave Ohio. I have NEVER worked for a company that gave more than 5 sick days a year, and that should be more than enough. We already have the family medical leave act, not to mention AFLACK, We should start with 2 or 3 sick days per year with the OPPORTUNITY to earn more based on consecutive hours worked up to whatever YOUR specific work week is. Most of us only work five or six days. Be smart people 7 sick days is BAD for Ohio
What Mayor Jay Williams is doing is blackmailing surrounding townships using water as his weapon of choice. Liberty already agreed to a JEDD with the city on all UNDEVELOPED land within the township or so I have heard, perhaps wrongly. This is going against the agreement that has been in place for Youngstown to provide water to the Township for 50 years. The issue isn't about running pipe lines. Those are in place and have been for years! Perhaps what we need to do over here is have a JEDD between Liberty, Girard, Niles etc. and replace the damn at Girard Lake making it our water supply and tell JEDD-EYE JAY jump in his lake!
