Program aims to help veterans prepare for workplace, find jobs

You should be commended for your work with vets. We, too, work with vets! I thought I'd take this opportunity to share some information with you as it relates to the education and workforce in Ohio through 2018:

By 2018:
490,000 jobs will be available to "high school dropouts"
2,069,000 jobs will be available to "high school graduates"
1,264,000 jobs will be available to those who have "some college, no degree"
553,000 jobs will be available to those who hold an "Associate's degree"
1,012,000 jobs will be available to those who hold a "Bachelor's degree"
509,000 jobs will be available to those who hold a "Graduate degree"

As you continue your work with vets, it might be beneficial to take this information and drill down to what it means - locally - for each vet.

If you think we can work together on this, don't hesitate to contact me! Again, you should be commended for your work with Ohio vets! I find our work with vets to be very rewarding.

New website to help NE Ohio communities

I think, as an innocent bystander, the goal to "...better understand the region’s challenges and research solutions for its future" is a great place to start. We can't wait for suits in DC of state government to solve our local problems because they don't know or understand our local challenges.

A report out of Georgetown indicated that over 2008-2018, Ohio would create 1.7 million job vacancies both from new jobs and from job openings due to retirement. Furthermore, 57% of all jobs in Ohio (3.3 million jobs) would require SOME post secondary training beyond high school. If I were a member of the NEOSCC, I would utilize the Georgetown research, as it relates to the 12 counties in the consortium. Georgetown is giving us big information that we can back map into our local pursuits.

I'd be more than willing to help the consortium in any way it sees fit. Keep moving forward, NEOSCC members! What a wonderful idea: to "...better understand the region’s challenges and research solutions for its future" in 12 area counties.

Thomas resigns from school position

I wonder how the school year went. It seems odd that less than one year ago, Thomas felt the "... district...provides opportunities... and with my (his) experience and expertise, I (he) should have (had) more impact on more kids.”

Is there any allegiance to contracts anymore? Interviewing for other similar positions while in a 3yr contract....
