Kenner leaves Mahoning County Engineer’s office

What Kenner fails to tell you is that she and Mr. Marsico passed out huge raises up to 12% to the front office personnel. Mrs. Kenner was earning more than the elected county engineer at the time of her retirement all while driving a county vehicle in which she transported her children in. Unfortunately Mr. Ginetti will be stuck with all these overpaid employees in the front office. Secretaries making $27.00 an hour when can I apply? The front office personnel are not Union so please no comments about the overpaid Union workers.

New bus plan to send Austintown kids on WRTA

Austintown school officials claim that the ridership of St. Christine and Ursuline students is low. The number has been exaggerated, St. Christine had 23 riders in the afternoon. What they haven't explained is why it is so low. Many parents from both of these schools have chosen not to use the Austintown Bus because every new school year Austintown Schools have made it more and more difficult. First all the students were picked up in their neighborhoods and taken to a transfer point at St. Joseph School and then changed buses and finally taken to their schools. The following year the students were picked up along with the public school students and taken to Frank Ohl only to stand under a tree and wait for the one bus that transported them to St. Christine. Many students were being picked up as early as 6:35 so some of the parents decided to transport their children on their way to work. Another reason why ridership is low is because some parents were not comfortable putting their children aged 5-10 on a bus with high school students from Fitch. Now this upcoming year they came up with WRTA voucher idea. The Ohio law which was created in 1966 states that the student's home district is to transport the student to their school of choice or provide something comparable to what is provided to the public students. I do not feel transporting them to the Federal Station for a 35 minute layover is comparable. And when Mr. Colaluca stated that St. Christine wouldn't cooperate with them about adjusting the afternoon pick up time he is full of B.S. St. Christine has dismissed Austintown Bus riders 10 minutes earlier than rest of the school for the past several years. So whether you are for or against the parochial schools is a moot point. If you do not like the current law do something to change it. No matter what Mr. Colaluca does he will not force these families to attend Austintown schools, these familes chose a Catholic based education for a reason. Also Austintown schools receive state money to bus and educate these children, the money does not follow the student to a parochial school as it does with Open Enrollment. I sure hope all the money he is sucking out of the Youngstown City Schools is worth it in the long run. I'm sure he is lining his pockets.
