"we were encouraged when the board of elections offered to develop a map — at no cost to the city.
We believed that elections officials would follow the constitutional mandates of redistricting and come to the same conclusion as YSU’s urban studies center. We were wrong."
Finally, the Vindicator is right about being wrong, congratulations.

"Not only did Belinky’s fall from grace send shock waves through the legal establishment (considering his well-earned reputation as one of the best probate judges in the history of the Mahoning Valley), but it has given Betras as chairman a major political headache."
This must be one of the most remarkable paragraphs I have ever read. Lets get some facts straight Bertram, anyone that said Belinky was one of the best probate judges must have completely overlooked the kickbacks he was taking from the very start of his term and that the kickbacks were known about and being discussed by many in July 2009.
It is impossible for Betras to have a political headache since he does not understand politics. Betras had been advising Belinky for over a year, and Betras encouraged Belinky to stay in office and fight the charges.
Former Judge Belinky needs to serve time so that all who follow get the message that this behavior will not be tolerated.
I'm especially looking forward to seeing Betras being exposed for the fraud he is and the public learning about his role with Belinky, Oakhill, Sammarone, the Board of Elections and more.

Another example of King Betras following his own rules and or the law.
Betras admits he was well aware of this situation and did nothing to comply with the rules of the state party of which he has sent tens of thousands of our dollars in order to "win" awards for himself.
All of the candidates should have been tossed and a female candidate(s) found before the election, not an appointment of Joyce Kale-Pesta (who is also being investigated like Betras).
The question for the investigators is when are you going to act? How much longer must we tolerate these people breaking the law, fixing elections and making backroom deals?

I hope the precinct committee members vote for Betras. Let's remember, the bigger they are the harder they fall, and since our chairman will be taking the biggest fall of his life when he gets indicted, lets not get in the way of what will be the best show in town.
The vote for Vice-Chairman is the most important vote in this election. Engler? No way. Muzz? Are you serious? Carano is the only choice.

Whoever is in charge of this investigation better put a stop to Betras making decisions on any replacements. Betras is connected to the Cafaros and will appoint the people they want in office.
Betras is a clear and present danger to our community and they need to take him down before he causes any more damage.

It's time for the investigations to end and charges be filed. We almost had a future felon become the winner of a primary race!
While the investigators continue to hunt for the big fish, we suffer with people in public office that should, at the least, be removed from office, and at worst be in jail.
We need to get this behind us, file the charges and let us move forward with new people in office.

Munroe is just another cog in the Democratic machine in Mahoning County. Fielding candidates would require work and money both of which Munroe is not interested in. He wheels and deals with Betras like everyone else. He is also being investigated like most of the democrats. Munroe is the last Republican Kasich should listen to.
Chuck and Chris Sammarone are being investigated right now for something going on with the probate race. Whatever it is, they must have given the Governors office a warning about appointing Chris before the investigation is over.
The smartest move for the Governor is to wait until Wednesday, see who the winner is, and gain some big political points with local democrats by appointing the winner. How can he go wrong? What's Betras going to say if the Republican Governor appoints his "endorsed" candidate? Win win for Governor Kasich.

Rumor is Chuck and Chris Sammarone are both under investigation for something to do with the probate race. These guys are bad news and we certainly don't need a new judge like Belinky.
Vote Maruca to clean up the probate court.

Well Southside_Res that's not the whole story. It takes two to tango and Belinky didn't commit his crimes by himself. It's interesting that the Sammarone campaign is funded by the same people who backed Belinky. On that fact and the fact that the Bar Association has a grudge against her (they knew all along what was going on in the Belinky court and did nothing) I will be voting for Maruca.

After reviewing your posts "realmen" the only person you can be is Betras, how many screen names do you post under David?
First, we all know Susan left the Betras law firm on her own, Betras did not fire her. Second, after making his life miserable Betras forced Chris Maruca out, but he did NOT fire him.
Susan is one of the smartest attorneys in the valley. Is it any surprise that the petty jealousies played out at the Bar Association? It is not, especially with scum like Alan and John buying votes for Sammarone.
Even with all of this nonsense Susan will win this race big time. So try, as I'm sure you will to elect a dolt, Susan will end the corruption and be a great judge in the Probate Court.
