I wonder how many tips the Animal Charity Humane Society got about this before they did anything. My aunt's neighbor was keeping her dog in the hot garage this summer with no food or water. The dog was not even let out of the garage to relieve himself and was left to live in his filth. My aunt started to sneak it food and water to that it wouldn't die. She also called the Animal Charity Humane Society to report this abuse and neglect. When they came to "investigate" they saw the food and water my aunt had left and decided not to do anything. When my aunt followed up (on a Friday) and explained to them that she, in fact, had been the one giving it food and water, she was told that they would go back the following Wednesday (5 DAYS LATER) and not to give the dog any more food and water for two days prior to them coming. WTF?!? This was at the beginning of summer when it was in the 90's. Surely it was far hotter than that in the closed up excrement filled garage in which the dog was being kept. They couldn't make it there any sooner or give any better advice than that? Shouldn't animal welfare agents act with swiftness in order to save these animals? Needless to say, we were just as disgusted with them as we were with the dog's owners.
Yes, she is a nice person, but both YSU and the Youngstown area need a significant change. This is not a significant change. It's disgusting how many people are licking their chops in anticipation of riding her coat tails to the top. It's not surprising given the cronyism and nepotism rampant in Youngstown.
