Kelly Pavlik’s reputation takes a huge hit

"The local media believes he doesn't respond enough. Mike Pavlik said during one call with a local reporter that he was told the hounding "was the price of fame." During a recent interview, Pavlik's publicist, John D'Altorio, played a voice mail from an editor at a local paper. The message was sent just before Pavlik's fight with Martinez. In the message, the editor called Pavlik's refusal to give the paper's reporter access "bulls---" and said the paper "would draw our line, you can draw yours and it will be ugly.""

Kelly Pavlik’s reputation takes a huge hit

BTW notice that on a national level, when people know why he didn't take the fight, KP is getting a lot more support for making the decision he did than he is in his hometown. Why? Probably because the Vindicator and local media have had it in for Kelly for some time.

Kelly Pavlik’s reputation takes a huge hit

Why would anyone want to take advice from a guy who stuck around way too long and fought for nothing else but to have slowed slurred speech? At the end of the day Kelly is making a good decision. Top Rank is selling him out. Since I know the Vindicator won't post Kelly's response, I will.

UPDATED: Pavlik fight called off

For those of you that want the TRUTH

http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/16...

I can tell you that this fight was very poorly if at all promoted here. The same with his last couple of fights here. Top Rank has done little if anything other than rely on the name of Kelly Pavlik to sell tickets. Sure the media is making Kelly out to be the bad guy here, but let's put the blame where it belongs. Who sells a fight without getting a signed contract? That would be like going to work without ever getting hired, or accepting a job without being told the salary only to learn on your first paycheck that you were making minimum wage for a position that required a college education. I can almost guarantee, that this article and the article about Bernard Hopkins wanting to reach out to Kelly, will never make the local media here in Youngstown. The Vindicator has a vendetta against Kelly and does whatever they can to make him look bad. Not to mention the locals here loved him when he was up and do nothing but kick him when he is down. If nothing else Kelly should be looked up to in this instance for holding strong to his value of self worth. If you accept less than you will become less. Now that the bandwagon fans have jumped ship, Kelly can get back to work with his true supporters and get ready to take care of business. BTW for all of the comments that Kelly is not a draw anymore, don't forget that he is still the #1 MANDATORY challenger in the WBC, and his only two losses were to a legend B-Hop who is the current light heavyweight champion (which he fought with the flu), and the current middleweight champion who is currently ranked #2 on the p4p list (and on the cards if Kelly would have won one of the final two rounds would have took a split decision).

Report card: Youngstown schools drop into academic emergency

Unacceptable!!!!! While some blame I am sure must go towards SOME of the teachers, where are the parents at? Parents need to make sure their children are learning the appropriate materials in the classroom and getting the education they need and deserve. The Youngstown City Schools provided me with a great education! I highly doubt that since my graduation, my former teachers forgot how to teach. It's time to wake up Youngstown and be held accountable instead of playing the blame game or shifting responsibilities! Our children do not fail. we fail them!

Franklin County to cover gay, unmarried partners

Good for Franklin County!!!! I will be curious to know however, if the children of the unmarried couples would also be covered. The way I see it, if this plan is going to work the insurance benefits need to be extended to all member of the household. I would also like to know at what levels insurance fraud would be investigated. When unmarried couples break up, will they be covered for a period of time or will they be left without insurance the day they leave the home. Also, what is the criteria to be claimed as an unmarried beneficiary?

‘Traficant Release Night’ scrapped by Scrappers

If Michael Vick can have a homecoming celebration in his home town without media criticism, why can't Jim Traficant have a homecoming without criticism?

Who: Kelly Pavlik (34-1, 30 KOs) vs. Marco Antonio Rubio (43-4-1, 37 KOs) What: WBC and WBO

What will happen to the Phantoms game that is already scheduled for that date at the Chevrolet Centre? On the Chevrolet Centre web page it lists the Phantoms on that date not Kelly's fight.
