The Board of Trustees shares much of the blame here. In last year's search for a new president, the board chose to operate in a secretive manner. Those on the search committee included only current members of the board, one ex-administrator and one current faculty member. No students? No staff? No union representation? No deans?
After the search, the board presented 3 candidates to the campus and outside community. One candidate was embarrassingly unqualified; the other imploded during on campus interviews. Dr. Dunn was the only candidate the board could have chosen. It has also been suggested that the board did not fully inform Dr. Dunn of the university's financial situation until Dunn assumed the presidency.
For years, the board has turned a blind eye while those in power promoted friends to high and mid-level administrative positions, even if other individuals interviewing for those positions had more advanced degrees and greater, more relevant experience. Now the board wants to micromanage decisions on all new hires. Duh. A little too late.
I'm not so sure Dunn saw the handwriting on the wall and opted to save himself. I doubt Dr. Dunn will leave much of a legacy at YSU. However, I fear that the board's chronic ineptitude may do far more damage to the university and community than Dr. Dunn's decision to leave.

Regarding the Climategate2 emails :Today's leak (28 November 2011 ) may also be timed to disrupt the next session of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change next week in South Africa. The new email leak is accompanied by a text file which appears to protest against the huge expense of anti-warming technologies - highlighting deaths from poverty against the $36 billion expense of 'green' energy
The emails have been released in the form of quotes carefully 'chosen' to show bias, or that scientists were pursuing a particular agenda in their research.
The unnamed individuals who released them chose the 5,000 emails from keyword searches, saying, 'We could not read every one, but tried to cover the most relevant topics.'
"None of the material appears to be new, either: it seems to date from the first release in 2009.
It also occurs against a rather different scientific background, after the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature review of climate-science data by prominent climate sceptic Richard Muller, which analysed 1.6 billion temperature records, and concluded that global warming was a genuine effect.
It is still unclear what effect - or combination of effects - is causing the current warming of the atmosphere, which has risen around one temperature in the past 50 years."
Thank you for pointing out the Organization Studies report. It is a very interesting read as it is a study of the differences between Scientists and Engineers who are associated with different sides of the issues as provided in the abstractive description: "we contribute to the understanding of ‘defensive institutional work’ by professionals within petroleum companies, related industries, government regulators, and their professional association. "
According to the Organization Studie article in Forbes (Which believes that Global Warming is good for crop production) that is about a year old, of the 64% that are listed as "Skeptical" of man-caused climate change only 24% fully believe that Man has nothing to do with the cause. You may actually want to read the paper rather than the spin.

Mr. Nudell...News Flash!! It's just not the Liberty residents who live on Mansell Drive that are "furious". Taxes are way out of line for the community...and I see you and the rest of the township administration/trustees/school board doing anything about it! Keep putting those levies on the ballot and we'll just keep voting them down. I don't disagree that potholes are a problem...but there's a larger problem that needs to be addressed and no one seems to be willing or able to do so.

Threatened by our Gvt.?The most recent indication that our country has taken a seriously wrong course was when we launched an unfounded preemptive strike on Iraq AND instituted the Patriot Act. Prior to that it was the Vietnam Conflict and prior to that it was the Nuclear testing that blew off over 1000 nuclear devices in our country in order to prevent war. Another grand invasion on my gvt's influence by Corporations and rich interests over the people's welfare was The Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case.

One question for the Right. Exactly when is Trickle Down Economics going to start trickling? BTW: Obamacare. as it's called was brought to you by Romney and Reagan's EMTALA. and just for the record, the name calling that has been going on in political comments are on both sides. It would be naive to assume that this has not been the case since politics began. "Retaliation" is a cheap excuse to lower one's self to that level of discourse without adding some level of intellectual craft.

For the record, there were many private sector businesses that closed as well, including the Grove City Factory Outlets on Monday evening, Jan. 6th.

@hurrdurrYou are seeing the premises of the "unauthorized biography" book realized very acutely in their comments.

You supporters of FOX News who use the finger pointing tactic to support your defense of FOX's blatant manipulations are a testament to the ability of one person's calculated efforts to propagandize the minds of fair portion of this country's people. FOX's "Fair and Balanced" tagline is the equivalent of calling Coca Cola an organic health food. Sorry if you feel the urge to disagree but no response will ever change that fact.
