US civil-rights panel blasts Youngstown hiring policies

The only way to correct this is to get rid of civil service testing all together and hire an HR department.
If that is not possible, bring in an HR compliance officer to do the hiring after the Civil Service test is given.

Mahoning County Dems shun unity

The Ludt campaign members are disrespectful and classless.
They are making false claims about Carol and proving the lack of respect they have for anyone but themselves.
Ludt is an embarressment to the party and himself with the way he is handling this campaign.
Everyone has a right to run for political office and shouldn't be personally attacked for it.
We need someone in there that will think on their own and not just do what the overpriced administrator tells them to do.

Mayor remains firm: No jail bailout

The City was actually paying extra the last 3 years but is no longer able to do that.
The city should not have to pay anymore than other townships or cities at this point.

Austintown to city: Justify water-rate hike

Youngstown should annex Austintown at this point. It will bring a more regionalized effort and that will present more funding opportunities from the federal and state governments.
If the Austintown Trustees would have talked with the city about the JEDDS this would not have happened.
Call your Austintown Trustees and ask them why they are so close minded.

Assault witness says Hagan was belligerant one

He should have moved and let those sitting watch. Maybe she couldn't stand because of health problems. Maybe she carried a taser for her own safety.

Injured Hagan: City is still safe

Is this seriously news worthy? There are people getting assaulted, robbed and beaten in Youngstown every day and we never hear a peep about it.
A politician gets punched in the face and it has been a news story for 3 days now.
Who Cares?
Do a news story about the neighbors that have helped others during this snow storm this winter.

Tell us about your streets! How did the plowers do?

to the Youngstown residents.
If you feel as though the street dept did not do a good job, call the Mayors office and let them know what you think.
It is the administration who decides the routes and such
There is a building and grounds commissioner who tells the street dept what to do
