Bring back the Bush years --- because Repubs know that being lied into a war that cost over $1 trillion is a financially better toption han spending $5 billion on USPS retiree health benefits!
You hit it on the head. Companies like McD's, Ford, and Amazon stay popular for many years because they give customers good products at low prices. That's the basic model to follow for longevity.
Facebook is constantly rolling out new gimmicks like Timeline and other crap to keep people interested. The advertising on that site will get worse and worse to make the Wall Street scumbags happy about the bottom line. FB is doomed.
Much of the same thing was said about MySpace and AOL in their heyday --- nice way to stay in touch and chat with friends and family, news, etc --- but they disappeared rather quickly once Facebook came on the scene.
Facebook will disappear just as quick as MySpace or AOL ---- people are always look for the "latest and greatest" thing and another website will soon become the hip fun place to be.
AOL had like 50 million members in the late 90's who actually paid to use it --- and now it's a dinosaur.
Facebook is already on the downslide in popularity and it's stock price will follow suit. It overtook MySpace and AOL a few years ago, and some other fad site will replace FB soon enough.
Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were true tech visionaries who created products that people find useful for many years. Mark Zuckerberg is just a kid who got lucky with a time-wasting website --- people won't miss it when it fades away.
Jealous of what --- the water supply contamination and deadly radon being released by fracking?
Anyone with half a brain and concern for the environment would say "no thanks" --- but I dont suppose these nice rural landowners really care about clean water and non-radioactive soil so long as those royalty checks keep comin', eh?
All these rural landowner "silent majority" types are the ones I see cranking the one-arm bandits every weekend at Mountaineer and Rivers Casinos --- blowing their Social Security checks and then complaining the government keeps ripping them off by supporting the Food Stamp program. God forbid if poor people need to eat, eh? Most of those casino rats are about 100 lbs. overweight from what I've seen.
Meanwhile, all those false promises to their grandkids about helping out with college tuition gets lost with another round of poker or blackjack all because Grandpa is "feeling lucky".
Keep wallowing in your Norman Rockwell delusion --- must be nice to live within your own fantasies!
A lot of those cashier's checks will end up in the coffers of the casinos and luxury car dealerships. Most of these landowners never had this kind of money before and I guarantee most will lose it quick. Just look at how many lottery winners go bankrupt.
Meanwhile, all the kids and grandkids being promised college tuition payments will instead be forced to sign student loans that will burden them for decades to come.
Same old song and dance in the Mahoning Valley......sad.
I saw a case where a Target security guard followed a suspected shoplifter outside and tried to apprehend the female in question. She pulled out a can of pepper spray and let him have it.
The security guard was FIRED for breaking company policy of stopping pursuit at the door and following the shoplifter outside. He then turned around and successfully SUED his ex-employer for $700,000 in punitive damages.
Now it's very easy to see why so many stores have strict "no pursuit" policies in place for shoplifting. You really do pay a hefty price to the grubby lawyers for trying to recover low-cost plastic junk made in China!
Funny thing is how much this "no-pursuit" policy can vary from store to store.
Couple yrs. ago I saw a security guard chase a female shoplifter from a Kmart parking lot onto the adjacent property. Apparently this guard was willing to run all the way across town to apprehend someone who probably stole a waffle iron or something.
This "no-pursuit" policy is in wide effect at many retail stores because of fear of lawsuits. If a security guard chases shoplifters outside the store --- there is a possibility of death or serious injury to both shoplifter and innocent people as the criminal gets desperate to make an escape (just imagine ripping out of a parking lot at 60 mph).
Most juries will award large punitive damages against a retailer if there are bodily injuries resulting from aggressive pursuit of shoplifters. After all, suffering expensive medical costs seems quite silly just because a security guard was trying to stop someone from stealing a $100 power drill from Home Depot.
Use your brains, people ---- this policy makes perfect sense!
