What the he'll people! These are JOBS....you know the things that keep people employed with money to spend. Who cares if they are government funded or not. If people don't have a job they are not going to spend money in the community. We all win with projects like these. They surely provide much more stimulus than providing tax breaks to millionaires in hopes that those greedy few will create jobs. By the way, the Bushy cuts have been in place for nearly ten years.....Where are the jobs?
OK...Here is a new spin on this. Once upon a time people realized that in order to make our streets safe we needed "beat cops" on the streets and a ton of them too. Rudy Giuliani (who I am no great fan of) proved it in NYC in the late 1980's. Now fast forward to the present...Now we complain about paying taxes, but damn the underfunded and understaffed services whenever they fail us. Sounds a bit hypocritical to me, and here is news to some of you out there: taxes are the primary source of revenue to a government entity. ANd guess what....The biggest portion of many governments' budgets is public safety! While the person responsible for this crime should be brought to swift justice, we all need to take responsibility for incubating the society that nurtures and rewards this kind of activity by sitting complacently on the sidelines pumping our fists about what is wrong with government while we could be getting involved. So the next time a law enforcement levy or tax comes up to vote, just think about the consequences of a no vote. Better yet think about Ms. Fimognari. Better yet lets take this to the next Tea Bagger protest and let them try to spin this!
