The nursing literature is rich with information on the history of Black nurses and their struggle for equality in the profession. We invite you to learn their story and to visit some web sites that pay tribute to their hard work and courage. For more information on nursing history, you may want to visit the American Association for the History of Nursing or Dianne Brownson's nursing history links.
Preserving the History of Black Nurses Howard University in Washington, D.C., has served a vital role in the education of African Americans, and its College of Medicine is notable in the history of African American physicians. Yet, it’s the University’s former partner in nursing education, the Freedmen’s Hospital School of Nursing, that graduated 1,700 of some of the first black nurses in the country. And it’s the Freedmen’s Hospital School of Nursing whose story is rarely told.
@white sabboth......Let me put this in terms you will understand since it is plainly obvious you have a serious comprehension problem. 'GET OFF YOUR CRITICIZING AZZ AND DO SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOUR SELF!!! As for the direct line don't you wish!!!
Really Brown you didn't expect it in the "Good Neighborhoods". Ahh lets see you expected it in the HOOD didn't you? Wellwe have equal opportunity killings. Crazy is crazy wherever you live and it is colorblind.
AHHH the Children of Shyt Don't Stink are at it again. Your message is the same on every topic ENTITLEMENT. Kuddos to pgurney and the others who have worked hard to restore pride to a community that was stripped by the COSDS PARENTS!!! I wish the community nothing but the best.
No one commenting knows either of the two young ladies. Your very quick to JUDGE. I will then assume I am speaking to God since he is the ONLY person that can JUDGE. Dear God its amazing how our so called brothers and sisters (you know the good Christians that comment here)would rather belittle and even go as far as to wish death on another child of God!! Never crossed their minds to lend a helping hand. Mentor, Voulenteer, Teach or honestly just care. What they have done is become self rightious because they no longer live in the City. These are the GOOD People of the Steel mill error who sat quietly by and let the industry that fueled the community fall by the wayside. They are also the ones who voted in the really worthless politicians that lined their pockets instead of the streets. These children are a product of an enviornment that provides absolutely nothing for it's young!!! I will say this Good People the saying "Each one Teach one or even it takes a Villiage" HAS BEEN WASTED ON THE COMMENTORS. The question is where were the parents? Littlejohns? Abrams? Your child is a reflection of you!Once again where are the parents? Maybe holding them accountable and them doing time instead of the child would change the out come of the product they produce. I'm just saying!!
New vistas open after foster care
