This is "government" as usual in Youngstown. We need to replace those who do not listen to the recommendation of the Charter Panel. I have been to several meetings, set up by a certain council member, where the department heads show up so we can ask questions and the councilman makes you write your questions and HE decides which questions he will read and let the department head answer. How does that make sense? Our former Mayor and the department heads allowed this!
I once heard someone say they do not target certain nationalities they target bad behavior. If for example you have a large group of kids walking down the street (not sidewalk) late at night, why would the police not stop them and question why they were out at that hour and make the parents aware? It would make no difference to the officer what their race was. Everyone is so quick to says certain races are being picked on. This is just trying to point the finger at someone else so their bad behavior takes a backseat. If you are doing something you should not be doing you take the responsibility of being questioned.
Good for the city and the administration for taking charge and making some real changes. If there is no complaisance after a certain amount of time, does the city have the right to demoliish the structure? I know I would be happy to pay more taxes until this problem is under control.
Advice to Youngstown council: Rethink charter-vote plans
