New bus plan to send Austintown kids on WRTA

The parents of these children are not asking for a " free ride" from the district. These are Austintown residents who pay taxes. If people are worried about people getting free things from the district. I'd be more concerned with Open Enrollment. There are many students who come into the district needing extra help such as speech, tutoring, etc. The kids weren't identified at their prior schools. This costs have to be adding up.

New bus plan to send Austintown kids on WRTA

I agree that it is a little far to transport kids from our district. However, it is a law. So, parents have that right. I am disappointed how this district again shows poor planning. How can you roll out a plan like this without first speaking to WRTA?? I think this is a whole plot to completely cut transportation payments to those residents. They know that most of our parents will not accept those vouchers. They will not put their children at risk. As for the $45,000 to pay for a bus driver. They must have forgotten that they cut the bus drivers down to 3.5 hours and cut all of their benefits. I am so disappointed in our district and wish they'd remember who it is all about, our future, our children!
