Could It Be - you said it perfectly. The Park is such an underutilized asset in this Valley. We must preserve it and passing such a levy is crucial!

My condolences to the family... a very sad loss.

Was it really $9k a week? I dont know the whole facts, but I wonder if someone is assuming its based on a 40-hour week? Many consultants, good ones at that, get paid good money.

And as for $75k a month, its excessive. But what if he saves Northside from closing? What if he makes Forum financially healthy, so healthy it sticks around for the next 20 years. Everybody jumps on a number around here. How about measuring performance.

Interestingly enough, I hear there is a firm who is very close to coming to market with a high-effieciency irredescent light bulb (the old ones). It simply lines the inside of the bulb to trap the heat with creates much greater effeiciency. They will be more expensive then the old versions, but should be much better on the electric bill.

Foxtrot - please tell me then why nothing has been done at the site for the last 20 years while CASTLO has been redeveloping property that straddles Youngstown, Campbell, Struthers, and and Lowellville? The land is locked up.

This plant will use clean tech, its not going to create pollution. And can you hear the existing plant from where you are now? And yes, 400-500 jobs at $50k a year benefits us all. These people would buy homes, new washing machines at Best Buy, new clothes at Target. Its called a multiplier effect, and this plant would have enormous benefits to us all.

Foxtrot your talk about collective security is the exact reason our economy does not grow. You make it sound like we are separate little countries in our own little globe. That is the exact foolish reason we cant move quicker on things...ridiculous parochialism. Do you think Dallas Texas, Nashville, and other large cities have these issues? No.

It is worthless land to all except V&M. Dont you think leaders in the Valley have been trying for years to get that land developed? And its been Girard's forever, what have they done with it? This project would be one of the largest economic development projects in the United States (FYI the United States is the place that exists outside Austintown, Boardman, Girard, Youngstown, Niles, and Lowellville). Its time for closure, and lets hope those at the table see to its closure.

Foxtrot - there are natural boundries to that property that make it nearly impossible for anyone but the property owners to the south to use for their interest. This is partially why such property that has been so close to I-80 hasnt been considered for use by somebody else for so long. Others have tried.

Nacho - the city wasnt the aggressor. V&M doesnt want the accounting hassles of two jurisdictions. Girard is too small a city to have applied for stimulus money to pave the ground. When a company that is bringing $1 billion into an area wants something done, you get it done.
