DwightK ... you're just wrong ... those of us who were Detore's neighbors saw that J.J. Cafaro invented a $13,000 bribe to Traficant in order to keep prosecutors from putting Capri in prison for the tax fraud that went on under her presidency of J.J.'s Potemkin US Aerospace company. You should watch Rick Detore's testimony before Congress ... it would greatly open up your eyes ... http://www.unz.org/Pub/CSpanTV-00148
Everyone needs to remember that you have only J.J. Cafaro's word that he bribed Traficant, in exchange for which J.J. stayed out of prison for his previous perjury charge and also avoided an audit of Detore's whistle-blowing about US Aerospace/Cafaro Company tax fraud.
T'would be be real exciting if this latest Cafaro 'crime family' adventure caused an audit of entire Cafaro Company.
1) accept the several lucrative radio and publishing offers that he put on ice to run for Congress;
2) spend the next two years accumulating enough funds to mount a serious, PROFESSIONAL campaign (which is something he obviously hasn't had to do since the early 80's);
3) convince the people of Youngstown of his NOT GUILTY-ness by making the case online and in print about the Morford criminal prosecutorial misconduct in Cleveland that kept J.J. and Capri out of prison by putting him and Detore on trial;
4) #3 above can be done by simply by using his bully pulpits on the radio and in print to rub the Press's nose in the uninvestigated bombshell facts of the trial (two word: Detore and Okolo);
5) There is no statute of limitations on perjury. Morford, J.J. and Capri ALWAYS face legal jeopardy for their perjury and criminal misconduct.
6) We can easily keep the Vindicator stocked up with Traficant news for the next two years -- much as the newspaper wants him to (sort of) go away.
1) I used to live three miles away from Barney on Capitol Hill ... he's a walking self-parody of everything that is wrong with career statist politicians.
2) Barbara Walters has aptly been criticized for being a 'power groupie.' The same term applies to those in Youngstown who are pork-crazy and therefore would 'Ooh and Aah' just because a 'powerful' member of Congress comes to town to prop up Tim Ryan.
3) Barney's appearance is a measure of how much the Democrats fear Traficant ... and well they should!
" ... the millionaire pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to provide an unlawful gratuity (the charge can be found in the federal bribery statute) to former Congressman James A. Traficant Jr."
For the umpteenth time -- there was no evidence that Cafaro bribed Traficant.
He conveniently confessed to this unwitnessed, evidence-free crime in exchange for prosecutor Morford ignoring Detore's whistle-blown evidence of Cafaro Company tax fraud.
1) It is inaccurate to speak of J.J. Cafaro's "conviction of providing an 'unlawful gratuity' — legalese for a bribe — to former Congressman-turned-federal convict James A. Traficant Jr."
CAFARO WAS NOT "CONVICTED" OF ANYTHING -- HE CONFESSED TO AN UNWITNESSED CRIME, IN EXCHANGE FOR GETTING A PASS ON THE TAX FRAUD WHISTLE-BLOWN BY HIS TEST PILOT, RICHARD DETORE.
2) It is misleading to state that J.J. Cafaro "pleaded guilty in 2002 to giving Traficant $13,000 in cash to have the then-congressman help his company, US Aerospace Group, secure a federal contract."
CAFARO WAS DID NOT "PLEAD GUILTY" TO A CRIME FOR WHICH THERE WAS ANY EVIDENCE ... HE CONFESSED TO AN UNWITNESSED CRIME, IN EXCHANGE FOR GETTING A PASS ON THE TAX FRAUD WHISTLE-BLOWN BY HIS TEST PILOT, RICHARD DETORE.
3) It is similarly misleading to write: "he pleaded guilty to this serious criminal act."
CAFARO DID NOT "PLEAD GUILTY" TO A CRIME FOR WHICH THERE WAS ANY EVIDENCE ... HE CONFESSED TO AN UNWITNESSED CRIME, IN EXCHANGE FOR GETTING A PASS ON THE TAX FRAUD WHISTLE-BLOWN BY HIS TEST PILOT, RICHARD DETORE.
Correctamundo ... the myth of newspaper 'neutrality' is of recent origin, fostered by Journalism Schools.
Historically, the Press has always advocated -- the public can demand objectivity, but not 'neutrality.'
The Traficant/Ryan race is going to sell a lot of papers, which is as it should be.
My beef with the Vindy is that it will not address Traficant's assertion that he never received a nickel from "Mr. Ethics," J.J. Cafaro.
After Detore's whistle-blowing about Cafaro Company tax fraud, J.J. suddenly remembered an unwitnessed penny-ante $13,000 bribe to Traficant and thereby kept the Federales from auditing either US aerospace and the Cafaro Company ... and in addition, J.J. received a Get-Out-of-Jail-Free card for his his previously confessed perjury on behalf of Lenny Strollo in the Phil Chance case.

Oakhill prosecutor questions secrecy motives
What is remarkable is how cheaply the billionaire Cafaros have been able to buy people in Youngstown.

The Cafaros just can't help themselves, can they?
They are Youngstown's only remaining active 'crime family.'

’07 depositions to be part of Oakhill case
We are shocked, shocked to learn that there is Cafaro family corruption in Youngstown!
Wasn't it ethics maven J.J. Cafaro whose unsupported testimony put Traficant in prison?

Traficant: Con of the Ex-con
Certainly an option is for Traficant to:
1) accept the several lucrative radio and publishing offers that he put on ice to run for Congress;
2) spend the next two years accumulating enough funds to mount a serious, PROFESSIONAL campaign (which is something he obviously hasn't had to do since the early 80's);

No problem, Vindy. We'll be advocating for Traficant online in a format similar to this one: www.PrintcafeSecuritiesFraud.com
The Vindicator will be welcome to join the debate.
