Not sure this was mentioned in any blogs, but, how many of you know that charter/community schools only need to pass 12 requirements on the "state report card" while the public schools have to pass 30 to be deemed excellent.? Requirements are lower for these schools. Of course, lies abound regarding these schools. Talk to a few who have taught there and left!!
Well said "endthismess". I am an educator; and we do have many of these young people who survive the elements of a classroom very well. That being said, I once saw the effects of a disabled child actually take a special ed room apart...furniture thrown all over, books, anything in his path. The children in the room were traumatized. It took 3 adults, including a custodian, to get control. Yes, some of them do not function well. Just a terrible dilemma. The law says public educ. has to be provided. But, just a dilemma.
I knew Stacey!!! And she was kind with a warm spirit . ! This should NEVER have happened!! Thank you to Judge "set them loose" Sweeney!! We can remember that the next time she runs for election. But, we so often forget and leave people like her on the bench....until someone stalks one of her own!! Would never wish this on anyone, but, she goofed in this case and a wonderful girl is dead!! The Klinke case from Poland was sickening. The excuse there was that his criminal record did not transfer across state lines to California when she alerted authorities! Sorry excuses for a justice system! Two beautiful girls are dead!
Hey, endthismess, do your research!!! I am familiar with this situation!! The teachers DID THEIR JOB in this matter. It was repeatedly reported. I know the teachers involved with this child. They are devastated! Once a child is home schooled, the district cannot do much more. Call the governor!! And get the facts straight!
Hey Boardman, drugs are everywhere!!! In every community! Struthers has large pockets of fine citizens. And, by the way, I do not live there. The basic message here is the death of a sweet boy! I knew him! Sweet.!!! And most importantly, when is this mother going to jail ?? I am sure the police are getting that case together carefully.!
oldstown...do you live in Youngstown? If so, keep your problems there!!! We have no room in suburban schools where 60 to 80 % of our taxes go to our own individual school district. Socialism does not extend across borders. And, Robert...when is the last time you tried to teach in an inner city school system ?
