The article regarding the director of Trumbull county CSB stated that in 80% of child abuse cases, they don't pull children from homes. He followed that with "we are the agency that helps people in hard times."
Excellent case of where this "helping" leads. Disgusting. Both agencies need an overhaul. Neither are protecting anything other than their pensions.
Well stated, bill1176. It's starting to seem like the entire party has gone off their rockers. I feel like I'm doing a social injustice by voting for a republican, but they are seemingly the one ones with a bit of sense left. Unfortunately, some people only hear what they want to hear and continue on their delusional path. I think it's time to abandon the party system, because labels have gotten in the way of progress.
I'll start by saying Romney isn't my first choice and I Kerry campaigned in the rain and cold for weeks. Obama isn't a democrat, however, and is screwing the middle class and the unions this area loves.
For the comment on overseas production saving gm, maybe, but not a penny of that money will ever see US soil, due to obamas corporate tax laws (highest in the world). GM and delphi retirees lost their pensions due to the bailout. If GM would have continued their traditional bankruptcy and restructured, the middle class workers would see their pensions and GM exectutives may have not received unprecedented bonuses.
Obamas flipped on more stances historically than Romney (gay marriage, abortion, etc). Romney HAS given plans, just not in the buzz worthy 90 minute debate. Google them.
Obama insults the us and the apologizes for its actions. He also doesn't know Egypt is an ally. He is the reason out embassies are being attacked. Start reading the guardian instead of youngstown papers alone and you will see this.
Many of obamas brick walls are from republicans AND democrats who understand our constitution from which you quote. Check out the number of unconstitutional bills and acts obama has passed (Obamacare).
47% of our country is on some type of government assistanc. 47 million people are on food stamps, up from 17 million in 2000.
Obama hasn't passed a budget in four years. Why do you believe this is?
This enormous mess that took eight years to make? If you look at the departmet of educations website you will see that obama had cut educational funding in half! it was 100 million down to 43 million! His educational increases dont even come close to putting the numbers back to where we started. We had a deficit of 3 trillion when he took office. Obama has added 13 trillion to create a unfathomable 16 trillion dollar deficit. At least with Romney comes a VERY strong finance guy (Ryan), as opposed to the joke that is joe Biden. It's not that people supporting Obama are unintelligent, it's that we have been under and misinformed for four years.
I am not posing this to be inflammatory, I just hope that people can do their own research rather than listen to attack ads and mainstream media. Please. Think outside the box and educate yourselves, rather than allowing others to do that for you. Our country's future depends on it.
@uncommonsense- Really? With not a clue who foley is, it sounds like he has the experience and education to make a real difference in the community. Would you take on the job as Youngstown police chief for any less than 100,000 a year? I would still question it even at that salary. You get what you pay for in most cases and something needs to be done to clean up the mess that is Youngstown. The crime in Youngstown effects everyone in the valley. If he can make a difference, i believe it's money well spent!
Are people avoiding the concept of "you get what you pay for"? People are complaining about high wages? Raise the wages of educators and watch education become a competitive field. It's hard to attract the best and the brightest with the salaries slightly above the poverty line. I make three times the starting salary of teachers by cleaning houses. Seriously? It's time to reflect on our values when scrubbing toilets is more financially rewarding than educating our youth.
This is a great veterans day article, hopefully highlighting how much we truly have to be thankful for! My heart goes out to those in less fortunate situations. Thank you to all of the service men and women that have fought for our freedoms!
Censoredship, the loan forgiveness programs are a blessing, but you need to have the money to make the 120 payments. I can't imagine the debt accrued by a law school students after seeing the damage my tab from YSU caused. I am now in a position that I can not take a job with average salary. My loan payments are absurd and my debt to credit ratio is shattered until I am 40 years old. While I don't agree with a 60% increase wholeheartedly, this issue of low pay is the same reason we end up with what you have pegged "ineffective" teachers. Not many are able to take on a $24,000 a year position and pay their responsibilities. To attract the best and brightest, there needs to be incentives.
I am having a hard time understanding how speed trains really would encourage public transportation in the everyday sense. As much as I would like to shop weekly at trader joes, I don't see myself choosing taking the train and bus there over hopping in the car to go to giant eagle. As far as a job creation/opportunity standpoint, people that live in cleveland and Columbus can't find jobs in Cleveland and Columbus. How will this help the valley? (unless you are an engineer or ticket taker!)

And Christie is a joke. Poor New Jersey.

More than 70 cats taken from Cat Ladies Society
Wasn't there an article not long ago about the Lariccia (sp?) family donating a large amount of money to them? Anyone remember something like this?
