There are several other business that are also junkyards like the one on Lowellville Road at the old Pinky's Sohio. Charlie has always helped those in need and was very involved with LL baseball; he used to have a Christmas Parade for the kids; he is a genuine nice guy. Yes the business could be a little more tidy. (To Tom who says Gus kept it a mess; you are far from the truth; Gus kept that place immaculate for a gas/service station. It's an auto repair business, understand that fact.) The real problem here is that Cafaro blames Charlies for the Plaza being empty. Really? Ask the former tenants. His leases are outrageous. Big time politician vs. the little guy here. Back in the 80s Charlies was for sale. Cafaro had his chance to buy and do whatever, but probably wanted to offer peanuts, enough said!
The man has a master degree and 7 years experience and you're complaining $104,000 is too much? You're probably one of those fools who pay $75-$100 for a NFL game. Why does this area continue to bitch and moan about paying for education. I am not a teacher but I am in Management and this salary is under what he could get outside of this area. What do you want to do, call Manpower and have them send in a temporary?
Born raised, Not sure about the OHP but all these locals are getting paid through the grant. These are not cost effective, more like cash for overtime. True they pulled 3 off the road but surely there is some other use for this grant then this. I will give them credit at least they were in the hood instead of Boardman or Austintown.
Unbelievable, Only with Paul "No" Gains can such a lousy job of prosecution come down. Come election year he can brag about his conviction rate. This is a tragedy that was swept under the rug. Nothing changes in this county. They go to jail and a new crop of underachievers take up the slack. What about the child she had in the car, no child endangerment charge? This criminal should never be allowed in a vehicle unless it is a cop car. Congrats, Paul Gains, another notch in the old election year belt. YOU stink!
John Simon's ability to lead is phenomenal. In the stands yesterday when he was introduced with the seniors those who had not known he was out for the game were in shock, it appeared at times his teammates were as well. But after each series when the D would come off he was hobbling around talking and doing everything he could to inspire them to victory. John Simon is everything good about collage athletes, your parents and family are surely proud. You are a true leader and a great role model.
Amazing how some will find negative in anything. This is great for Y-town. Currently this puts some construction workers to work in the usual slow period; an open vacant lot will be transformed into something; YSU athletes and fans will not have to travel to Canfield; YSU the biggest employer in the county is growing; private funds are used; hmmmmm let's find something to bitch about I just need to keep looking! Meanwhile congrats to the YSU staff as you continue to make the school a great asset for the area! ;
I know a great location on Tippecanoe right across from the guy with ugly fence calling all the shots at CMHS. That way he can walk right across the street and see his money in action, Fits all the criteria, right between Poland and Canfield and Beaver close to Columbiana. Then he can buy a new football coach since he didn't get to the playoffs this year. LOL
The stench is from all the sour grapes coming from the Village because their boy Romney got beat and to top it all, the school levy passed all on the same day! HA HA HA.
YBR, Maybe you know nothing about what has been going on involving this stretch of roadway or the officer involved. I guess if you did you would shut up. As for personal agenda, I have a clean driving record, never been stopped by either PDs but I have witnessed this individual many times operate a public vehicle with total disregard for the safety of those driving. I guess the Vindy has made you with your 411 comments a site monitor, congratulations!
This is a tragedy gone bad. A seminar and course correction that is it? Every citizen in New Middletown and Springfield should be calling for this officer's job.Watch the video, this officer has no regard for public safety what-so-ever. The STPD officer was within 50 feet of this intersection when the NMPD came blowing through.This same intersection was the site of a fatality just four days earlier. I go through New Middletown every morning and I have watched this officer do the same disregard in pursuing many citizens on their way to work so they can pay taxes to support this type of over zealousness. I believe this is the same officer who was given an award for somethin earlier this month. Many times in the morning or in the night these same NMPD stop cars in very bad stretches of 170 such as in bends and over blind spots that put the public in unsafe conditions. If I am Chief Mohn of STPD, I am absolutely livid at this aggressive behavior knowing that this could have resulted in his officer's own fatality if he were a mere 50 feet further on Unity. Everyone knows the victim being pursued was wrong, dead wrong, but this behavior of the NMPD officer is totally inexcusable. This is a terminal offense if they terminated an officer in 2009 that was too aggressive and did not follow proper procedures. NO video or safe driving seminar can correct this IMO. How could this officer not know that the intersection of Unity and Middletown is a VERY DANGEROUS if not the most dangerous in the township. Again just four days earlier a fatality occurred at this intersection. Then the NMPD chief on the day of the accident tells reporters that his officer followed protocol, really? Probably never thought about the dash cam on the STPD cruiser! Lesson learned here and the next time just say there is a investigation pending AND NO COMMENT CHIEF. There is much more to be done here besides a video and seminar Chief. you are a good man don't stop here.
