I believe in carrying a concealed weapon, and do so daily, but there is something seriously wrong when an 'average' citizen is carrying handcuffs in order to effect a citizen's arrest. Will he wear a Wyatt Earp toy badge next?
And thus is the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans do not compromise in the matter of fairness and empathy, while Democrats always take a beating for trying to do what's fair for the majority.
It's because of the way in which Republicans steamroll over what is good and fair for the average person that we are seeing the Occupy Movement growing. The gloves will eventually come off.
Instead of cigars, they should pass out doobs for the entire team, along with the champagne! Sure, it's against the law, but what the heck... they WON!!
A measly couple hundred dollars earned by workers for product excellence is much better than trillions of dollars freely given to banks as a reward for driving the world economy into ruin.
Being a good steward of the environment while extracting its riches is what people like me and the protesters are for. I have absolutely no qualms with anybody over making an honest dollar and hope they make a fortune off of it. It seems that people who won't compromise on anything like to twist words and intentions around, to create a totally different argument to draw attention away from the true problem, without comprehending or addressing the actual problems.
It's a sad day in this country when people exercising their constitutional rights are labled as "bums" and troublemakers.
The same detractors probably cheered when the new 'detain and imprison' law was voted in yesterday, giving the government total and absolute power to detain and imprison US citizens by reason of 'suspicions' of being a terrorist in any form. The definition of terrorist is very broad and can include somebody merely stating their dislike for the way the government operates to the wrong person. FEMA 'emergency camps' have been constructed across the US over the last 5-6 years, and are intended to imprison US citizens under the new law that was just passed. This law, and the 'emergency camps' are what will be used to imprison people when they begin to publicly demonstrate and show their disdain for the way things are in this country. In other words, they will be used to put down what our government officials view as revolutionary type demonstrations. In the near future, you will no longer be able to complain about or change how your government runs. Of course, this will please the posters on here who don't want to see things like OWS or people protesting against gas companies drilling on their property.
I do live in Weathersfield and will vote against this levy. The contractors that low-ball the bids to get these jobs have historically been out-of-state and employ people from outside the area. One contractor, from PA, had so many OSHA fines levied against it for safety violations that they filed bankruptcy. Most of the schools who had these contractors are still experiencing problems and safety issues due to poor workmanship. Just ask people from McDonald, Niles and Warren, who had to use these low-ball contractors.
I will not vote for any levy that will be used to hire out-of-state or out-of-town contractors when there are so many of our local contractors and skilled tradesmen who are unemployed.
I'm with you, Askmeificare! They should get beaten and jailed for peacefully assembling on public property because it's not only unconstitutional, but unpatriotic as hell!
