TEA Party, union members battle over bargaining

All this bill will do is drive all of the good employees from the public sector into the private sector. They won't have a choice. The public sector has to offer competitive pay and excellent benefits in order for people to want to work in the public sector. Otherwise, very few well qualified individuals will actually choose that career path. Rather than trying to strip down those who happen to be doing better than you and bring them "down" to your level, you should be fighting to get "up" to their level.

Hands off Star-Spangled Banner

Couldn't agree more. It's a disgrace to watch some of these "artists" sing Our National Anthem, and try to make it their's, and do all they can to "showcase their talents". The best performance of the Star Spangled banner I can remember recently was a playoff game of the Chicago Bears this year. I'm not sure who the man's name was that sang, he was an opera singer I believe, but he sang the song the way it was written, the way it was intended to be performed. He didn't add syllables and high notes, etc, he performed it respectfully and admirably.

Pa. man gets 6-15 years in toilet stabbing

The title of this story is misleading. One can't help but wonder why the man stabbed the toilet?

Be sure to take a look at these December events

formerytown,

You should do a little research on the December 25th holiday. The bible never refers to a date of Jesus's birth. Saturnalia was a pagan holiday celebrated for centuries before the birth of Jesus. It was celebrated from approx Dec 17th to the 25th. Saturnalia was celebrated by feasting, dancing, being raucous, and was actually a one week period of lawlessness. They were celebrating "the coming of the sun", or the winter solstice, because they knew the days were going to grow longer and they'd be able to grow more crops. Around the 4th century, Christians changed it to "the coming of the son" and Christmas was born. There are actually some details in Luke that lead scholars to believe Jesus was actually born in early autumn, September possibly.

Do you support Gov.-elect John Kasich’s plan to use $400 million in Ohio rail funds for other purposes?

It doesn't matter what needs done worse, the money was sent to OH for the specific purpose of rail use. Plain and simple.

If you get approved for an auto loan, and then tell the bank you decided you really need the money to get groceries and pave your driveway because those things are more important, the bank's not likely to still give you the loan.

The end of campaign is near; all that remains is to vote

The first part of this article made me thing, what exactly would happen if nobody voted? If all candidates received zero votes. I would imagine the incumbent would still hold the office, but it would be an interesting scenario.

Fort Wayne parents sue school district over religious education program during school hours

Nunya, 300 good posts.

I send my child to school to learn about math, reading, writing, history, science, etc. My son is not sent to school to learn about religion, that is what church is for.

Also, morality and religion are not the same thing.

Close payday lending loopholes

I have used payday lending in the past, and it can be used responsibly, without getting completely gouged. I was on a 2 week pay cycle, and if I knew I couldn't get through that 2nd week, and needed groceries/gas, etc. I would borrow $50 or $100, and write them post-dated checks for $57.50 or $115, that's only 15% interest. I forget what the name of the place I used was (thought it was Check Smart), but this was in 2003/2004, and as long as you avoided borrowing more than you truly needed, you could avoid the trap. I think the problem falls on the people who are expecting a $500 check, and may need $100 or less, yet still end up borrowing $500, because they want their money right away, then you end up with more interest due, and you end up falling into the trap. .
