Some of you people need to give it a break. They are people just like you and me and like to enjoy life as well. Never in my life have I seen so many people dislike someone so bad...Give me a break. ..Just sick.
Out here in California we have what they call "Gang Injunctions" and they work well because they are court-issued restraining order prohibiting gang members from participating in certain activities. It is based on the legal theory that gang activity constitutes a public nuisance that prevents non-gang members from enjoying peace in their communities. And the Supreme Court of California upheld the constitutionality. But there is a lot of work that need to take place in Youngstown from tearing down those old abandon houses that harbor illegal activities, fining slumlords and making parents responsible for there kids and not looking at them as welfare check.
Hmm sound like someone was reading my comments months ago about curfews. Ok how about the gang injunctions? And what do you mean "We try to cite the parents" When you drop the kid off at home you cite them and give them a court date. If they don't show they now have a warrant....Stop sugar coating it.

Thugs are thugs and murders are murders race has no bearing on it. Your success depends on what you want out of life and your bring up...Oh I'm Black and a retired peace officer living in California and still have family in Youngstown. I was raised on the South side. Prior to leaving high school I knew I wanted more than Youngstown had to offer so I join the military for 10 years since my mother could not afford to send me to college and the rest is history, I know successful black and white people that came from the same background as me and I know thugs of both races.....Life is about choices. I wish you people get over this race thing and do what you have to do to save your city.
All I can say is it's about time...I will see if there is any changes when I visit in Nov. They have a up hill battle in front of them, but it is a start. And they need to start enforcing curfew laws for those under 17. I bet when the parents start having to go to court and pay fines they will start making sure their kids are in the house at 10pm. I'm starting to like this new mayor already.
