Assault weapon recovered in probe of child’s murder

I agree with you there on one point, AnotherAverageCitizen.. If more people were legally carrying concealed with even just a little bit of training to back it up and more than just a handful actually cared about what's going on in the community maybe these disgusting, pitiful excuses of human beings would think before committing their crimes. They obviously don't care what the legal ramifications are. Who would've thunk it? Criminals showing blatant disregard for the law and other people? Social contract..what's that?! LOL What a dream world some of these people live in. It's pretty hard to make these hoods care about anything - they don't work for what they have, they have no pride in their homes or neighborhoods (why should they? pay no taxes, pay the bare minimum in rent w/ Section 8, etc) , no ethics to speak of, no parental figures... Seriously, I'm just waiting for the shooter's family to start whining on TV about how the shooter was "turning his life around" or "starting to go back to church" and what a "good boy" he is, etc... Give me a break.

Assault weapon recovered in probe of child’s murder

@Vindy.com - Please stop using the term "assault weapon". This does nothing more than underline the fact that the writer of this "article"/snippet knows nothing about firearms. Guns are inanimate objects. Under Ohio law only people commit crimes (read: assault), not objects. High school journalism class obviously didn't pay off for this writer.

@AnotherAverageCitizen - You're an idiot. Take your extremist, nutjob psycho babble somewhere else. Believe it or not some people here use firearms for protection, not for shooting up the 'hood. The guy that shot this kid is a MURDERER and a disgrace to the human species. Why does it matter if it was an AK-47 style firearm that he used to commit his criminal act? Would another firearm not be able to do the same thing and take a life? Would you be calling for a ban on all kitchen knives had the child been stabbed with a Ginsu? Maybe it's the scary images you get thinking of the AK-47 wielding bad guys you saw in a movie or on the news that make you uncomfortable? Or maybe Is it just the caliber you dislike? Maybe 7.62x39 is what's scaring you? What about .308? .30-06? 7.62 x 54R? Would you be more comfortable with an AK-74 in 5.45?. I am a law abiding citizen and love my AK-47. If you want it, come and take it.

Williams faces stormy political weather

Are you kidding me? Can't believe you're sticking up for this guy....

If you think Conglose was a big scandal in Mayor Jay "Alien Head" Williams' administration, you need to stop drinking the KoolAid.

How about let's start cutting costs by laying off one of the dozens of under qualified people he's hired from his church into positions that are either emeritus or are non-essential, or both in some cases (explaining why several of those positions have been empty for up to decades)

What about the cut backs to the police force? Don't just say City Hall, let your readers know what it's really about. I see the Vindicator take the city to school when there's a murder or violent crime, but you summarize a drastic departmental cut as simply politically inconvenient to the corrupt Alien that's taken over our city. Why aren't you underlining the real issue here? I know..because you'll get more of those crime stories you love, that make for good copy when our already paper-thin police force is reduced even more.

This is a devastating blow to the City of Youngstown and the Vindicator is simply washing it's hands of the matter. I'm very disappointed but, at the same time, not even slightly surprised.
