Why give a position to someone who is clearly out of touch and lives in the burbs. Give a position to a parent of a child that goes to the school system.
Watch who gets the position if this goes into effect. Just watch.
Also, Their ten step plan is nothing more than a bunch of mumbo jumbo words that business people use to make it look as if they are actually doing something. Its as if they did a google search and then just copied and pasted keywords into their own plan...
What an absolute punch line these two representatives are for mailing it in just to protect or create some jobs for people who don't need them.
Open your eyes people. Without a local kickback these two will whine and complain until the cash cows come home.

Holy S*#t.... "one a Mahoning county resident".... Jesus, Why not just say you want your relative(who lives in the safety of the burbs) to be on the board for essentially what is a no show job....

"a city schoolteacher will be appointed by the school board"
You should no longer post here. Seriously. Reading comprehension 101.

Good job with this. Your first plan of action should be to get a list of teachers that want nothing to do with it(the academic distress commission) and demand their termination.
Brenda Kimble, school board president, said she’s thought about possible appointees(for the academic distress commission). “But everyone I’ve thought of who I thought would be really good has said they want nothing to do with it,” she said.
Those aren't the type of attitudes the people teaching your children should have.

“But everyone I’ve thought of who I thought would be really good has said they want nothing to do with it,” she said.
This is the whiniest, most idiotic thing that these "teachers" can do. A real "my way or the highway" mentality. Its statements like these that show that they don't care about the kids. If they cared, they would want their voice to be a part of the new academic distress commission.
The fact here is that the schools are suffering and whatever steps necessary to get them back on track should be taken. If you have something to say, you should want representation here. Come together to fix it, don't just sit there and wish failure because its not being done your way.

UNCOMMONSENSE, Mr. Davis just took you to school. Yet you still refused to learn once you were taken there. Unless you are willing to provide the readers with your identity, and then actually run for a spot in your local government, and then provide actual solutions, you will continue to be a basement dwelling troll who can solve all the worlds problems from beyond a computer screen in your own virtual world, all while doing nothing in the actual one.
Do something to change the world or don't sit there and bitch about it.
P.S. Way to go Mr. Davis.

When questioning the intelligence of others, you may want to spell perish correctly.
Parish - (in the Christian Church) a small administrative district typically having its own church and a priest or pastor.
Perish - suffer death, typically in a violent, sudden, or untimely way.

What kind of number is that?

You said "IF" the outcomes remain the same.
I think that the current situation in the Youngstown Schools is one that has been in a disastrous state for quite a while now. Wendy Webb is still living the high life off of Youngstown dollars she pocketed for doing NOTHING.
Its hard to make an argument FOR the local folks running things, but I do agree that some wording changes may be needed.
