It’s time to discuss race relations in US intelligently, reasonably

Ernie, I agree with you, but sadly, you will find neither intelligent nor reasonable discussion on this forum. (Please see posting above.) In the past four or five months, I've noticed a lack of debate, just hysterical rantings from the same people over and over again. What is troubling is that those out-of-towners reading such spew might actually think intelligent life doesn't exist in the Youngstown, Ohio area...while I know for a fact that isn't true. Can't wait for the forthcoming comments to prove my point....

Balancing our image

Before you start blasting all steelworkers, let me just say this. My father was a steelworker, and I remember him coming home from work exhausted and filthy. On more than one occasion, he was hospitalized because of accidents he'd received at work. It was dirty, dangerous work...and I don't believe for a minute he sat around and did nothing! During the summer months, he would head straight for the basement to cool down before having dinner. He was a smart man and made sure all of his kids went to college, earned their degrees, and obtained jobs that weren't nearly as dangerous. I only remember once that he had a 13-week vacation in the summer. If USA1 thinks my father and all other steelworkers "did nothing", then I'd ask USA1 if he "did nothing" during his tenure at Lordstown? Do you think all men and women who work in factory jobs "do nothing"...or just steelworkers? From what I've seen in my life, it's the working men and women of this Valley who made it what it was. It's the idiot politicians...on both sides of the aisle...who have destroyed it with their all-consuming greed and corruption. I wouldn't say that our entire country is morally bankrupt, but I'd say that's pretty much the case here. And seriously, who in their right mind would want to run for political office in this area? That's an editorial I'd like to see addressed in a future issue of the Vindicator.

This Kidd has a big heart for the city

I can't imagine what else there is to say to you anymore USA1. You know everything!! When I woke up this morning, the things I loved most about this country still remain. We can go to church...or not believe at all! A black man (or a half black man) can still be president over all of us...so for me, it's a good day. I will continue to believe in the possible and the positive, while you can sit and spin in your negativity. Like I stated previously, the Phil Kidds who make positive changes in our community are to be applauded, while the hysterical harpies such as yourself are to be ignored. And ignored you shall be!!!!

Thank you USA1. You have finally come clean about the type of person you really are. I had suspected it all along. You don't believe in helping your community become a better place. You don't give a crap about your fellow Americans. You've admitted it for all to see. In my opinion, you are the WORST kind of American citizen. You are one dimensional...A USELESS IDIOT. Our country was founded and grew great by the Phil Kidds of the world. How very, very sad you can't appreciate that.

Concierge service at YSU?

I don't believe for a second that you are not an employee crlblklxo. If you're not, you're being fed info that may or may not be accurate by some disgruntled folks. You should question why they are so disgruntled? Did they lose their job? Have they been arrested and face possible jail time? Have they been warned to seek legal counsel? Gee, I guess I'd be disgruntled too!!!! And for the record, I am completely 100% opposed to the retire/rehire practice.

Yes, USA1, it is your right under the US Constitution to speak freely. It is also your right to be paranoid, ill-informed, negative, foolish, and hypocritical. By the way, why won't you answer me when I ask what kind of community service you perform in order to make our community a better place in which to live?
