I wish you the best. I also have NF but am not plagued with subcutaneous tumors. Except for one small subcutaneous tumor on my side all of mine have been on peripheral nerves or my spinal cord.

You might need to talk with your doctors about the 'remote chance' of any of your kids inheriting NF. I've always been told by my doctors that the odds of a child inheriting NF from a parent with NF is 50%. That is also what I've always read in articles about the disorder. No one can predict how severe it will be. Now either you misunderstood your doctors, I've misunderstood my doctors and everything I've read about NF in the past 36 years, your doctors are completely mistaken, or my doctors are completely mistaken as well as all of the articles I've read. One of us needs to either learn to comprehend better or, perhaps, obtain different doctors.
A friend, whose mother had only three small subcutaneous tumors (grape sized-small grapes) is affected as severely as you. For myself, I will have no children. Because I love children. I refuse to take that chance with the life of another.
