New bus plan to send Austintown kids on WRTA

Education voter... I know personally 2 families in Austintown that were told that Austintown Schools cannot help their children. That is the reason they have chosen to go elsewhere. One of the children they wanted to stick in the classroom with the other children with learning disabilities but that would hurt this child socially. This child just needs to be taught differently and Austintown cannot provide that. They have tried for 3 years with no avail. I was also told 7 years ago that Austintown did not know how to teach children with this particular learning disability when my child was tested. Luckily, my child does not have this problem. I just wanted to point that out... oh and one more thing ... the information was given to the family who wrote that about the bus schedule.... a phone call was made to inquire when the letters were sent out and that is the info that was given to them ... again, I know people who made the same inquiries and received the same route! In my opinion, it doesn't matter if you choose to go to Wal Mart, Chase Bank, K-Mart, or any other bus stop along the route... it's not right sticking any child unattended on public buses no matter where you live.

Anger at Austintown bus plan

OK... first, these people choose to incorporate religion into their child's education... I can see where some of you need some too... the whole debate is about CHILDREN'S SAFETY. Yes they can drive their child but what about the people who have no way of doing that?? The school is stating that they are saving $40,000 or $45,000 ... WOW!!! BIG DEAL!! Just wait until one of these children get hurt or worse, because a parents decides that the Austintown Board of Education knows whats best for their child and actually puts them on that bus. Can you say 'lawsuit' and I'm sure it'll be for more than $45,000. I also noticed that none of you mentioned MCCTC students... the ones that can drive... they send buses to Canfield for them... that is a choice those students made and they still get a ride out of the township!! These people are doing what they feel is best for their child. I am doing what I feel what is best for my children. And trust me when I say this...gmailuser hit the nail on the head!

New bus plan to send Austintown kids on WRTA

OK, the way I am reading this, it is incorrect. The school, in this article sounds like they are saying it costs $45,000 to bus these children and it sounds like they have separate buses for these children... well, these children are picked up with the rest of the public school children and taken to the bus garage where they are then put on a separate bus. Maybe they should use a long van instead of a full size bus for those 3 to 10 kids. ( I mean, we pay the police to drive kids home and back to change their clothes when there is a dress code violation!!) I personally have 5 kids on my street that go to Ursuline so the 20 kids quoted above has to be a low number. Also, the 10 to St. Christine's has to be low too. I know about 3 personally. Maybe we should stop busing to MCCTC too. I mean, those kids can drive themselves... a 10 year old can't. I also would love to see the Board Members get out of bed August 21st, go to WalMart, get on that bus and ride it to the various schools. I would love to see what the other WRTA bus schedules are. Maybe Mollie Kessler?? Also, I would like to add that children going to Mollie Kessler have special needs that the school district can not help so they have no choice but send them there and the Board Members would like to put those young children on public busing... what kind of people do we have running our school district???
