This is my first post in my hometown paper. I left Youngstown after college, but the Steel Valley has a permanent place in my heart. I am grateful to check in from a distance.
Barack Obama represents my new home, Illinois, as a U.S. Senator. As a(cough)something white woman, it's already been my pleasure to cast my vote for him. There are many reasons why I'll do this again Nov. 4, but I'll stick to the point of this thread.
Our country faces enormous challenges, perhaps the greatest since the depression of WW2. We need a leader who can inspire and unite, because neither party ( or parties) can do it alone. We are in this together. I have observed Barack Obama represent the interests of small rural towns in Illinois ( like the one I grew up in in Columbiana County), the interests of my company that provides salaries and health care across our state, and the interests of our major cities. Not everyone gets what they want, but he listens as a color blind representative to everyone...farmers, small business owners, corporate employees, city dwellars. This transplanted Buckeye sleeps well trusting Barack Obama with my best interests.
Study the issues and follow your heart on November 4, however you vote. Please vote for who you believe offer all of us the best future-not on their name, the color of their skin or their age. Barack Obama expects no less of Buckeyes. Neither do you.
Democrats accuse locals of being racist toward Obama
