Ms. Babbey is correct in her assessment. Of special concern are those "neighbors" who seek royalties while jeapordizing the drinking well water in close proximity. Gas drilling goes almost a mile down piercing the aquaducts that are much closer to the surface. The current acreage miniumum must be agumented with a safe distance to exiting wells. Possible performance/protection bonding should be considered. The need for gas, and profits, with the Marcelus projects for this area is important; but those (drillers and property owners) who jeapordize drinking waters need, and will be, held accountable. I encourage all to have their wells tested for safety shortly after new gas wells are drilled. It is also important to know that as an owner of property you may not own the mineral rights underneath.
"....increased tuition revenue this year compared to 2009 by $2.6 million with $800,000 going to members of the Association of Classified Employees" Now consider Ron Coles statement “When the economy declines, enrollment goes up in higher education,”
Maybe the union members should donate (charitable deduction) to create a lasting scholarship fund for those in need since these 400 members did nothing to increase enrollment.
Of course cudo's to union leadership for hoodwinking the YSU negotiating team, and taxpayers, and placing this in a contract. This should not continue and full visability to actual increases are needed.
Beware of new drilling methods
