I want to commend the efforts of Ron Gerberry in his efforts to make this project in Austintown a reality. I have worked with Rep. Gerberry on other projects and have found him to be genuinly concerned in the best interests of his constituents. I say this as a registered Republican who has "locked horns" with the Representative on other subjects in the past. He is a hard working and dedicated legislator who has, at times, been unfairly attacked for a variety of reasons. We're lucky to have Ron working for us in Columbus. And I will continue to lock horns, when needed or when we head to our political corners.
This is a simple problem that no union leader would suggest. In a shop with a union, those who belong would reap the benefits of the negotiations held on their behalf. Other workers would be obligated to take what is given or negotiate their own deal. Then there would be no freeloading and I'm sure the non-union workers would do fine. This way personal freedom is preserved and the right to belong to a union is not infringed upon. At any time, workers could CHOOSE to join the union or form one when one does not exist. The union "fat cats" hate this idea because it would render them useless. No money, no power.
And Obama had tons of "substance and experience" when the Mahoning Valley overwhelmingly voted for him in 2008. The standards are a lot lower for any Dems seeking office. At least Romney has held a number of jobs in his life, unlike our President who put "community organizer and one term Senator" on his resume.
Mr. Andy is a typical Valley Democrat who looks for every opportunity to blame a Republican for his problems. Unless you live in a cave Andy, we have been having problems with school funding long before the current, or last 4 Governors. What is happening is that we can no longer afford the system that is in place. Every little burgh in Ohio, or anywhere else for that matter, can have it's own everything. Own school system, own police, own fire service, own EMS, etc. Nobody has the money to pay for it. Ohio has over 1,000 school districts with the administration and infrastructure to go with them. How do you pay for all this waste, Mr. Andy from Mineral Ridge? Maybe you slept through economics 101 and have spent a lifetime reading nothing but the liberal newsletters that come to your home. But clearly, you are not going to pin this on our Governor nor those that came before him. Ohio determined that how we fund schools is unconstitutional over 15 years ago, and our politicians have done nothing to change it. Maybe you should b...h about that, Mr. Andy.
The whole concept of trying to stamp our prostitution is the greatest folly in the history of mankind. Look at the wasted money trying to stop something that has been going since shortly after Adam and Eve. And in the year 2012, we are no closer to ending prostitution than we are to living on the sun. Just wasteful and absurd.
This is a prime example of what can come from tapping into our own natural resources. Strict controls need to be maintained to make certain our environment is protected. In America, we can do both: keep our environment clean and derive the benefit of our own sources of energy. I only wish the folks in DC would see this as being possible in the petroleum sector of our economy.
Why is it that every time the UAW, Betras, or Hagen speak, everything is "an attack on the middle class"? If unions are the salvation of the worker, then let them stand on their own merit. Join if you want, or not. If they are all that Jim Graham says they are, then everyone will want to join. So far, 7% of the US work force is in a union.
We are at a point in this country, and certainly in this Valley, where we cannot have every "burgh" having it's own everything. We need to consolidate school districts, police, fire and EMS into single county entities. The waste that is taking place now is out of control. Ohio has over 1,000 school districts in 88 counties. Think of the wast of money just to keep this antiquated system alive.
As usual, the anti-Republican gang is using this as a means of smearing the Governor, again. Since the onset of CC law, how many time have you read, heard or seen a legal permit holder breaking the law with a gun? The answer....NEVER. This is just more anit-gun, anti-Republican crap. We are the most depressed, backward area in the country, and we continue to cling to our love for the Democrats. Why don't you guys run Bob Hagan for President. He would make sure to get in front of every camera withing a 50 mile radius. His politics would make the Mahoning Valley proud again. Get off this stupid subject and deal with a country that has been driven to the edge of financial colapse by our esteemed President.
If the author is so concerned about an attack on Mt. Calvary church, maybe they can give some answers. Between unpaid taxes and loan, there is nearly 3 million dollars unaccounted for. This has nothing to do with pursecution of a church and everything to do with theft and fraud. Don't try to mix in other churches, because the same would be true for them if they could not account for this sum of money. Stop blowing smoke up peoples skirts and account for your finances. You should be ashamed to cry foul in light of what is going on. What's next? The Vindy is attacking Mt. Calvary because it is a black church? The race card is the only ting missing in your shameful letter.
