Obama diminishes trip to War Zones by touring Europe
The Obama Campaign trip to the War Zone could have been the one single thing needed to defeat John McCain for President of the United States. The Obama campaign could be furthering the public opinion poll results that voters view his presidency as a more risky choice than McCain’s. The Obama campaign’s chance to add a sense of seriousness and confidence in his abilities to command the war effort was lost when he decided to tour Europe. The voters will not remember his visit to the troops in Afghanistan or Iraq. But they will remember that he changed his mind about visiting the wounded troops in Germany.
McCain’s big chance to topple the Obama Machine is to maintain a constant political attack on every facet of the Obama candidacy. McCain should take advantage of this weaken Obama moment by campaigning in Democratic Party strongholds. This would force Obama to physically associate himself with his perceived political base of mostly Black voters. It is true that Obama has many non Black supporters but the media visuals will tend to lead the inattentive White voter to the conclusion he is mostly for the Blacks. We (the politically interested) know that this would be a wrong conclusion, but snap judgments by the voters will create an atmosphere of doubt that will work against Obama. Obama surly has plans to associate himself with his base but it is too early in the campaign for him to do so now. The benefit to the McCain campaign would be; the limited amount time that Obama will be able to campaign in predominantly white areas because he would have to court his Black supporters earlier than expected. It would be wrong for Obama to assume that the Black voters will turn out heavy for him on Election Day, without being energized by his personal presence and direct encouragement to do so.
Obama’s big chance to win this election is now, but not by using TV commercials as his main political tactic. Obama will have to hit the ground running fast in America because we all have very short memories. If Obama could rekindle that barnstorming atmosphere in his campaign he will be firmly set to win in November. His campaign should focus on embracing the Obama Rock Star image and play it up hard big throughout the remainder of the election. This would force McCain to increase his physical campaigning activities in order to keep up with Obama and this could take a negative toll on McCain as the Election Day grows closer.
It is my professional belief that any election can be won and that any candidate can be defeated but you must be willing to make the right moves at the right time.
Political Scientist Dr. Binning hints that McCain’s visit may appeal to the Pro Clinton voters?
Political Scientist Dr. Sracic says “They're not gonna win the Mahoning Valley”…
Both of these great minds are very correct but the winning factor for McCain in this Election will be the intensity of his conservative ideological message to the voters. It could be speculated that in a few short months the nation’s attitude could change from that of “Change” to “National Security” and this would alter the Obama political momentum.
The quicker energy cost raises the more noticeable our lifestyle changes will be and this should breed for a higher level of fear throughout the entire population. In that type of national environment the voter appeal could be “Economic Stabilization” or even “National Protectionism”.
Senator McCain’s campaign might be wise to discontinue all “Issue or Position” campaigning and go directly to “Contrast” type campaigning to begin highlighting the ideological differences between himself and Senator Obama.
Issues like; Economic Stabilization, National Protectionism and National Security are all still Republican Party ideals.
Attorney General Marc Dann will come out of this with No Problems! “Get Off of His Jockstrap”
I have nerve seen so much hate for a hometown boy who made it big. So many of you have acted like your hands are so clean and that you are above it all. Marc Dann’s election victory benefits everyone in this valley simply because it shows that there is enough brain power in this region to win a state wide election. At no time have I heard any of our media people say anything in support of Dann and that is sad!
Many of you have pulled and pocked at him from day one of his election. I know that it is a newsworthy story but show that you respect this area by attempting to support your own Hometown Boy no matter what!
