Could this be hockey's last season at the Covelli Centre?

Problem is the Phantoms do a horrible job of marketing. No one knows about the chances these kids have going to the pros. The Phantoms have had 3 former players drafted to the pro's.

1) Forward Brandon Saad, currently playing for the league leading Chicago Blackhawks, 2) Defenseman Scott Mayfield who was drafted by the New York Islanders 3) Goalie Matthew Mahalak drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Now I did enjoy the Steelhounds hockey when they were here, but none of them had any chances of making it to the big show, as they were all past their prime, but the big draw was the fights, not the actual playing of the game.

Some of you that keep putting down the Phantoms, I'm willing to bet you have never seen one of their games in person. They have 6 games left at home this season, spend $11 ($5 for parking and $6 for a ticket) and see a game.

Hagan looks to put brakes on 70-mph speed-limit plan

I'll admit that I go faster than the speed limit, but mainly because I would get ran over if I did the speed limit.

First, it is dangerous for people to drive 5-10 miles lower than the speed limit. If you don't like going 65, then go on the side roads.

Second, it takes no more concentration to talk on the cell phone than it does to yell at your children in the back seat or talk to your mother in the seat next to you. With bluetooth, all you have to do is hit a button and say 'Call Mom' and the call will be placed.

Finally, I see enough other weird things going on in cars on my drive to work and back home from work. Maybe if the cops would pull over women for putting on their make-up or brushing their hair or reading magazines while driving (or some men for shaving or reading newspapers) then we wouldn't have as many accidents as there are.

Mainly, just pay attention while you are driving, either at any speed. Speed doen't kill, bad drivers kill.

Thunder G.M. hopes for quick turnaround with new coach

I agree Houndsfan -- you need someone the the front office that know a bit about football in order to recruit football talent. To compare, the front office we have would be like putting a bunch of football players in to run a doctor's office. They know a little bit, but the place wouldn't succeed.

Mahoning Valley Thunder change coaches

I should have said that I hope you tear apart this team after the season and get some talent you can work with... I wasn't expecting anything this season...I should have been more specific.

Thunder dealt 7th straight setback

I gave up my season tickets this past year. Its pretty sad when I can read the plays being called and the coaches can't.... I in no way want to be coach, and I was so happy when they fired Mike Hold. I loved the AF2 the first year and I love watching the game, but I can't stand watching a team just give up. This is the reason I refused to go to a game this year.

‘RAW Live’ wrestling hulks up audience to a sellout at Covelli Centre

Because Zoldan was going to make the Arena pay for the signage, if I remember reading the one article correctly. Covelli was paying for the signage and plus free advertising in all of his restaurants. I am not 100% certain though.

Hockey secures 150 dates at Covelli

Well its your choice if you want to pay $50+ bucks a ticket plus gas to drive to Cleveland or Pittsburgh or Columbus. At least someone in this area is trying to provde people with something to see.
People mildly supported the SteelHounds, and there was an idiot running the team who was very cheap. What makes anyone think that, with the added expenses, an ECHL team would succeed here when they have failed in many larger markets including Dayton and Cincinnati?
In these economically hard times, I'd rather pay a small price for local entertainment than pay a large price to go out of town. I have a college loan and a car to pay off, I can't afford the luxuries that you can afford.

Teen caught after break-in at old Austintown school

My bet is that the excuse is that they don't have any money to get the old stuff removed out of the place. I can hear the begging now, "We dont have any funding, please pass the levy so we can throw trash away."
