New duds, new date for Austintown school kids

dmets - There is plenty of time to "prepare them for later in life." Wearing a t-shirt does not mean my child will not go to college and become a successful individual. AND if you don't realize it ... living in Austintown means we already feel the need to "keep up with the Joneses if you want your kid to fit in!" Have you seen the amount of Hollister, A&F and American Eagle in our school kids? My children would do just fine in Canfield, thank you very much.

I am not raising hooligans. I am raising children who are always on the honor roll. They have good values and morals. They dress appropriately; never wearing short skirts or shorts, no flip-flops to school, or shirts showing excessive skin. I don't see how wearing a t-shirt is going to cause havoc.

-No t-shirts? Ridiculous for this age group. I don't understand this rule. Are there offensive t-shirts out there? Sure. Do my children wear them. Hell no. Why can't the teachers and other staff just do their job and peg the offenders of offensive t-shirts and not have all of the remaining children suffer?
-I understand the no hoodies because of the use of iPods, phones, etc. but once again ... teachers do your job and target the offenders, not every student.
-Oh, but if you are an athlete and have Falcon Wear, you can wear a t-shirt. Or a cheerleader or dance-line student can wear a short skirt. Can you say discrimination? Once again it's Austintown bowing down to our athletes.
-Jeans only in black or blue? How about all the colored jeans so hot this year? You can wear colored corduroy or dress pants, but not jeans?
-Four parents helped with the decision for several hundred students? Makes no sense.

-I am seriously considering transferring my students to Canfield for Fall of 2009.
