Wow no thats crazy talk. Lt. K. Mercer is one of the most upstanding, outstanding Officers at YPD. Lt. K. Mercer has done more for the city of Youngstown than could ever be expressed in words. If every Officer in the area had the drive and deterimination to stop crime as Lt. Mercer did Youngstown would be the Gem of Ohio. Unfortunately people are able to bad mouth good cops they know nothing about just because someone they know got put in jail. YPD Ohio's finest...
What do vacant properties have to do with homocides? Nothing!! Thats just a simple answer to a larger problem. When was the last time someone was found dead at a vacant house? This kid was exicuted in the parking lot of the Coconet Grove a haven for drug and criminal activity. Maybe Youngstown should have more cops on the streets taking care of problem places like this then talk about a vacant property tax.
Jail time would be a good start but city and county prosecuters droping charges just to get the case moved along dosn't help. If the public only knew what went on in our courts they would have a stroke. The police can only do so much, after the arrest is made it's up to the prosecuters to see justice is not forgotten. It's frustrating to see the same people arrested time and time again walking the streets free to do what they do.
