I think the cable companies missed a golden opportunity here. They should have offered a month's free cable trial for each converter box voucher sent to them. The feds should have allowed the coupons to be applied to the purchase of a new HD tv. That would have helped boost the economy (for Korea and China, at least).

I read the article in Tuesday's Vindicator where Mr. Beno's daughter, 16 at the time of her father's killing, 36 now, is going to speak to the parole board about keeping her father's killer in jail. Makes sense to me. What doesn't make sense to me is that her daughter, age 16, is also going to speak to the parole board. Unless my math is wrong, this girl wasn't born until 4 years later! This is a bit over the top. I think that as a society, we sometimes rely too much on people's feelings and too little on facts. I presume that the "notorious mob killer:" that "Ralph" referred to was Ronald Carrabia who blew up Cleveland labor leader Danny Green with a radio controlled bomb placed in a specially constructed car parked next to Mr. Green's car. Now that's premeditation. I don't recall any fuss over his parole. But, then again, he was in the mob, and this is "da Valley".

Dr. Gonzo said: "So the deterioration of society will continue until one of several potential outcomes occurs. None of which are positive." I am concerned that there is a very real "point of no return" which many of our cities are headed towards. I feel terrible for black families who are trying to raise their children properly but find it to be an uphill struggle because of what's going on in their neighborhoods.

Ah good. I now have your attention. I was referring not to this specific event, but to the general crime problem in Youngstown (and every other large city in the US). I stand by what I said. Now, will one of you indignant people please come up with a workable solution to the high crime rate in black neighborhoods? Whole generations of people are being lost here.

If Youngstown isn't decaying, nothing is. One of the problems with population loss is that the more talented people move away and the bad ones stay. That way you need just as many police as when you had 167,000 people.

I'm all for this bill. I say vote YES. It's time Ohio did something for the workers. You know, the people who actually perform the tasks that make their employers rich.

Get it through your head - the Chinese are not out friends. They aim to destroy America's economy (on track so far) and cram their culture down our throats. I'm sick of their Olympics, their culture, and their cheap junk products that fill the shelves at Walmart. We embargo Cuba because it's communist country, but we embrace these Chinese slave drivers. How much sense does that make? What makes the Chinese so special? There's just a lot of them, that's all.

Officer Colosimo has had his 15 minutes of fame. I have to say, he did it in a rather flamboyant way. He does have an undeniable style. But, now its time for him to exit. As a resident of a rural area, I am getting a bit tired of being "protected" by Gong Show rejects who become cops. In my township, the police turnover rate is outrageous, the cops are fat and out of shape, and they drive like alcoholic baboons. They think the gas pedal is digital, not analog. It's either floored, or the brakes are locked up. I really think its time to set a minimum age of, say, 28 for police officers. The young ones are just too cowboy-ish.

As a lifelong Republican, I like Mr. Obama. I really do. I am fully prepared to accept him as our president. However, he may never get there. Why? Because, while I and millions of others think he is a decent, honest person, he will soon become the victim of his own supporters. The far left, the tree huggers, the militant gays, the overpaid service unions, moveon.org, PETA, Jesse Jackson, Spike Lee, all the other kooks of the far left will drag him down. Its happening already. And I think that will be a shame.
