I can't make it any simpler. People’s lives are very different today with workloads, family and responsibilities. Our lives seem to move at a faster pace. Early voting was designed to give people a better opportunity to vote under these circumstances. With this said has it accomplished its goal of bringing out more voters or just made it easier for those who do vote. So based on population has the % of voters increased? Or do we have a much deeper issue of people not having a desire to exercise the right and responsibility we have and that is to vote. As for restrictions on voting what is wrong with proving who you are? Everything I do in life I have to prove who I am. To board an airplane, to pick up a drivers license, to get a passport, to open a saving or checking account, to buy a certain sinus medicine and the beat goes on…..How do people overcome these restrictions? By proving who they are….and these are much more common everyday things people go through to accomplish what they need to get done. The issue is not restricting voting the issue is getting people to vote!
Gadiva...vote early and often. 2 times no 6 times.... ahhh no 10 times... yea thats the ticket 10 times and remember you don't need an ID to vote. I guess my question is can someone find the stats that show the % of voters in the days before early voting and the % of voters with early voting. Any major diffiereces? Early voting was designed to get more people to vote. Has it worked?
State Rep. Ronald V. Gerberry threw Dum Dum pops to the crowd. He spotted me and threw a handful in my direction, nearly taking out an eye. Not really, but it could have happened.
Ha Tish......Why do some politicians give candy that is named so close to them!
Gerbs, Gerbs Gerbs………You double dipping whiner! Not only did your letter have about as much representation in substance as you have delivered to this valley as our representative (NONE) it wasn’t worth the paper, ink and postage I’m sure you charged to the taxpayers. Write 10 more letters and you will catch up to as many public offices you wanted to run for during your worthless feeding at the public trough. The bottom line is that our local senators have tried to reach across party lines and you haven’t. You, as a senior legislator with so much experience, had a golden opportunity to become the minority leader of the house and you failed to step up to the plate for US! Just maybe if you showed some leadership skills would the governor would include you in his attempt to recognize and deliver something to the Valley. Any chance you can offer, debate, compromise or take a stand on issues that will help us instead of complaining about such a petty issue? We need more from of representatives than a letter. WE NEED ACTION!
I have no problem with anyone getting a pension. The issue is defined contributions as opposed to defined benefits. Social Security would be well funded if there weren’t so many people paying into their own government created pension funds. Mention social security changes and you would be treated like you are a person who wants to kick older people to the curb. Facts are simple, I pay all my life into social security my wife and children are older then I die before I can collect I have no asset in return for everything I paid in. Is that fair to my family for supporting the system? Many people have no assets and this would give them something to leave their families. At 65 I retire but my income is limited when I am on social security. If I make too much I’m penalized but yet elected officials and others retire with full pensions then go back to the job with a full pay. So is this fair to the common man that chooses not to work for the government? Not at all! Double standard created by the ruling class to separate themselves from the working class.
Minority leader? State Rep. Ronald V. Gerberry of Austintown, one of the most experienced Democratic legislators in Ohio, said he’s not actively pursuing the position of House minority leader. Why the hell not???????????? These few words sum up his entire pathetic political career! He never pursed anything! Here is a senior legislator who ran re-election ads about being the right choice, the only choice, the experienced choice, a leader, someone who is tough, someone who cares about jobs and someone who cares about the valley. Yet the guy doesn’t want to be the minority leader. 36 years of investment in a guy who won’t even fight for a position that could give him a role to make an impact for the Mahoning Valley. Fester says……….Milk it out at the trough attitude is what we get with our representative who is enjoying the double dip of a full pension of over $60K plus another $60K plus as a State Representative. Why fight for the valley now when you can suck from the utter. Grandmamma is wondering if he is still stinging from the lashing he took when Vern Rife neutered him for voting against him. Gerbs had his office moved before he came back the next morning! Then again Bobby Hagen set him up on that vote way back when he was on the rise. Neutered men never recover. Gadevia.....
Well Wednesday you are correct when you say that Mr. Betras is acting like Pugsley when he is mad. Pugsley always takes his ball and goes home because he doesn’t want to play anymore. Learch……”You Rang?” Yes old buddy. Do you remember when Mayor Hansen told us this would happen? He said that when Chairman Betras decided to have the party endorse a commissioner candidate as opposed to the sitting commissioner that trouble was ahead. He said this is dealing in macabre for the Democratic Party in the Valley. Now look old buddy there are at least 5 separate parties in the Democratic Party itself! The Chamber has not made endorsements in 117 years hmmm that’s probably the last time the Dems turned on themselves! This all began when they broke up the party by kicking a sitting elected individual to the curb because he didn’t play the way Betras wanted them him to play. I am brilliant!
“I’m a little dismayed that they’d take advantage and cast dispersions on Democrats as a group,” Betras said. “I don’t like that. That’s just distasteful. It’s not even funny. I believe in competition, but it tries to ruin the whole [Democratic] brand.” Are you kidding me? This guy does everything he can to ruin any brand he doesn’t like and now he wants to be holier than thou……Wait I think he is trying to take the high road. Thing…….hurry my good friend and find me some of those buttons!
Gadiva ….Thanks for reminding me Lurch. You all know I studied to be a lawyer and I was the worse student in the class. I was even voted “least likely to pass the bar” but we need to keep Ted and Barack and Nancy and Harry for 4 more years. That way they can also socialize the legal profession. I want them to set rates of service at 24.75/hr for every lawyer. No claim over a million dollars and no lawyer can keep more than 10% of the award. That would be great to help all the middle class wouldn't it? After all we need to share the wealth. Maybe we should tax legal services. Ha I'm brilliant!
I am very confused about this…….So I went to Thing and asked him why the Chairman that demanded an investigation from the Sec of State is all of a sudden satisfied about her response that she will not investigate. Thing just gave me the finger in response. However Grandmamma is working on a potion with the hopes of finding out the truth. She believes that she can get on her broom, fly over the chairman’s house and spill the truth potion on him as he is posing for a picture. Poof then he will talk about his real motives. Her crystal ball already showed he is doing this because he can’t say the truth but we all know that it was a diversion attempt. He can’t say what he wants about Jim being on the ballot because he will even divide the already divided Dem party. Gadiva……… what will be next a letter to Santa?
There are no barriers to voting
