if this continues pretty soon stores will be open Christmas morning. it's all about corporate greed. God help us all!! I can remember when stores weren't open on Sunday!! this is what's wrong with America. and we're paying for it as we speak!

spoken like a true atheist repub. it's all about profits. you must really hate the military, social security, and medicare because they're all socialist programs, right. well get ready because obamacare is coming and people are gonna love it, just like they do in California, Kentucky, and guess what, in romneyland, Massachusetts, where it was born!

I agree with you papa1. We need to back up a little. We live in a rat race that is costing us what we are all about-family. Happy Thanksgiving.

@bird.... THEIR business affects the lives of their employees and their families. Christmas with your family isn't important, "I need to make an extra million today." Oh, of course I will be at home with my family, but you must work today for $8 an hour and no benefits or you are fired..

Good point, don'tbeafool. How many of those business owners are staffing their stores from Thanksgiving Day right on through the night and all day Friday? It's good to be the king, as the saying goes, but it would suck to be one of the peasants.

It is bad enough when you choose the dollar over family, holidays, traditions, etc..., but when your choice affects your employees, it is wrong. Offer block buster deals the day before Thanksgiving or on Black Friday, or any other day, I just don't understand why people are forced to work on a major holiday unless it deals with public safety.

all the teacons on here are screaming about how businesses should be allowed to be open on thanksgiving to sell, sell, sell, and they're the same teacons that keep screaming about keeping Christ in Christmas...so to them, you can't say happy holidays because it doesn't represent what Christmas is about and it's not in the spirit of the holiday, but mega corps selling on Thanksgiving afternoon in order to make some more profit is no big deal...you people are truly F'ed up.

There are some really stupid comments on here. First off Christmas is a truely special day for Christians celebrated on December 25th each year. It shouldn't gloss over Thanksgiving because businesses are trying to squeak out every dollar they can from people. Thanksgiving is a day to be with family bottom line. Everyone knows what day the holidays fall on so if you forgot something to bad because you had plenty of time to figure out what you need or needed. Its to bad that some of you under informed morons believe in the imposter and chief. He was a bad seed from the get go and some of you are just to stupid to realize it as he is picking our pockets clean.

At papa1:

You wrote, "if this continues pretty soon stores will be open Christmas morning. it's all about corporate greed. God help us all!!... "

I respectfully disagree with your position on this sir.

What if an employee NEEDS the money that working on any day for any hours would bring and be appreciative of the opportunity to do so?

Additionally, if I may sir, you are invoking god, as if god would be angry that anyone would not be resting on the 7th day, yes? Well, god also gave all of us free will.

Free will that many people who lived during the 40's, 50's, 60's etc., used to destroy this country by playing into the international banking system, not saving enough money, not being cautious about spending habits and our environment as well as destroyed our countrys' moral values.

People who lived during the 40's and 50's whom freely smoked pot and allowed their infant children to sip beer or wine and also paraded the 'sex, drugs, and rock n roll' banner around while experimenting with LSD.

So I state that perhaps corporate america is trying their best to get our country back on track after those folks now aged 60, 70, 80 years and more, destroyed this great country of ours, in part through their loose moral and financial values.

Perhaps you and I can meet in the middle and agree that taking away peoples social security checks and reducing pension payouts to only $250.00 a month would be a starting point in reversing the financial and moral damage that had been inflicted upon our country.

The friends of mine that work those holidays are asked if they want to work or not. Some say "no" and some say "sure why not." It's a free country.

@ doubled.. VERY GOOD POINT, AND VERY TRUE! I hadn't even thought about that. But I guess when it comes down to choosing between the two, the money wins.
