Why not all students? Why just single out athletes?
Yes it should be done for their health and safety.
high school athletes idolize the pros and dream of playing in the nfl some day. peds have ruined mlb and to play in the nfl it's a necessary evil if you want to compete. let's nip this in the bud starting in high school. sports is about human endeavor and hard work, not drugs.
The question says "drugs" not peds. So everyone should be tested, no exceptions.
The role of policing children is that of the PARENTS, not public facilities whose resources should be put into the creation of opportunity and not policing. Scholastic athletics has survived pretty well to this point without such procedures. As for the above statement PED's have actually had very little overall impact on professional sports-people are still pretty fervent about attendance and loyalty. Statistically, very few documented cases.
