The State already has taken over YCSD. That's what the Academic Distress Commission is.
God could take over YCSD and it wouldn't make any difference.
They need to get rid of the thug-gangsta lifestyle and the non-parents cranking out kids before things can improve.
The county should take over the school district and bus for socioeconomic balance. http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/10/0...
I'm sorry Maggie, but I just don't buy it. Look at Cleveland. They kept busing kids out further and further, while closing down schools and yet Cleveland schools are also in emergency and with low scores. At this point they will have to bus kids 50 miles out of county. The answer could be to start with eliminating section 8 housing projects and fix the root causes of an evil infestation crippling American urban children. This they deserve.
NoBS has the correct response to Ytown's school problems but those involved would never admit it.
As they used to say about computers, and it still applies, "garbage in, garbage out."
It's apparent most know the problem. It's not the school, it's the students and their parents. Let's do a test. Take all the Youngstown students (from the worst graded school) and send them to South Range (the best). What's the result?
