paulydel - that doesn't make any sense at all. marriage is a contract between CONSENTING adults, otherwise it's more akin to slavery. an animal can't give consent and so can't enter into a contract.
I am really surprised that the vote is this close considering that ytown is a obowser stronghold!
Why would anyone insist on restricting other's freedoms over something that had absolutely no affect whatsoever on their own life? I'm really surprised at how close this poll is.

This may be Obama territory, but this is a HEAVILY Catholic area. Obama messed with the wrong group with his decision to support gay marriage.
It may help him when it comes to donations, but it will hurt him come November. Social conservatives that have been hesitant to support Romney will not support him. Furthermore, battleground states such as NC, VA, and OH will become that much tougher for Obama to win again.
And to think, NONE of this would have happened if Biden didn't make that gaffe on Meet the Press!

As a republican catholic, married two chidren I will not vote for Obama, however; I do approve his decision. Two men or two women have a right to live together or marry. It is time for media & religious leaders let it rest.

Like ytk said keep religion and politics seperate. So is it right that a large majority of priests molest young boys but you have to agree with them when it comes to same sex mariage .....???????????

I agree with the right to live together part, but I have a question:
pj - Why two? What legally reasonable answer do you have for limitting marriage to two people??
In the beginning there was one man and one woman, because God created just one of each and told them to multiply. But if you look at marriage in the Bible beyond that, you see polygamy, concubines, taking captives or slaves as wives, and the like. For example, David, named a man after God's own heart, had at least six wives. Yet people say that one man and one wife is Biblical.
If marriage really matters, why is divorce so easy and so common? Could it be that it's not really about marriage, but fighting change? I know a number of same-sex couples that have been together and monogamous for over ten years, yet the GOP had the multiply-married Lee Greenwood lead the Pledge of Allegiance at one convention while they were touting "family values".
Newt Gingrich obviously believes in the sanctity of marriage. He keeps practicing it again and again and again....
Obama should go gay and really show his support. Then he could run on the platform of being the first gay president. Barney could then run with him as VP. A name change to THE LIBERAL GAY STATES OF AMERICA could finalize the theme of things. Anything less would be homophobic. RIGHT?

Most states will not let this happen, but if they do, and some have done so, this will open a Pandora's Box. It will then also be legal for say, me to marry my mother so she can share my benefits at work and so on and so on. Get the picture. Besides, as a Christian, it is clearly covered in the Bible as being a sin - a really bad sin. Besides that ,it's disgusting and perverted and I am allowed to say so.
