Do you favor any new laws regulating gun ownership?

We always attack problems too late and with emotional reponses.

Nothing is going to change as far as evil in our society or the danger of guns in our country.

I's a big waste of time and effort to attempt to put further restrictions on gun ownership - when the criminals always will have guns.

Criminals do not obey laws. We know that. So making additional, more restrictive laws will only punish the 99.9% of gun owners who are honest and law-abiding. Punish the criminals, not the legal owners.

semi-automatic killing machines should never be available to the general public. if you're caught with one it should be a felony with severe punishment.

You're kidding, right? I have owned semi-automatic pistols and you press the trigger once per shot. So what.

I just witnessed a speech (read: teabagger rhetoric) by the vp of the nra. One of the most disturbing spectacles I've ever seen. 1% of Americans belong to the nra and that 1% owns the teabagger/republicans that are still left in congress....untill the next election.

The one thing that will help a lot is making the punishment for crimes concerning firearms extremely severe. A felon caught with a gun, any crime committed with a gun or any crime where a gun is involved the penalties must be very severe. Years back when carjacking were rampant a simple change in the laws did a lot to slow it down a lot. If some little gangbanger knows he's going to do ten years just for getting caught with the gun I think you will see a change.

Just enforce the current gun laws instead of adding more laws that will not be enforced

Restricting firearms will not work because the law-abiding citizens will conform while the criminals will not, thus the criminal will be at more of an advantage than ever before. They will have the weapons and we will not be able to defend ourselves, our families, or our children.

Regarding semi-auto firearms...there are criminal elements in our society today who are manufacturing fully automatic weapons in their back street shops and garages. Those skilled in gunsmithing or with a CNC machine shop can do it. If we ban semi-auto firearms the criminals will turn to these black market manufacturers and boost their industry as well as their pockets. Worst of all, we could provide Mexican cartels with another business venture. Just like in our famously failing anti-drug war, we are losing to the criminals because we would prefer to hide in the closet or behind our desks rather than tackle the problem as we should.

People who define "assault weapons" as "semiautomatic firearms" have no idea what they're talking about. That term is just propaganda from the Brady Bunch, trying to push their agenda and remove the 2nd Amendment from the Constitution. They want to reword the Preamble to the Constitution so it reads "We, the Sheeple of the United States ..."

Why can't we do several things to try to restrain gun violence and secure the schools. I just don't accept the notion that Americans are incapable of doing several things simultanously.

Video violence, mentally disabled, easy access to firearms, armed law enforcement in vulnerable locations, and full enforcement of current laws.

Let's consider working on ALL these issues. New firearms laws alone will not be sufficient.

Your solution just makes to much sense which is why its impossible in the 21st century..Not only will the 2nd amendment will be declared war upon but also the 1st...Liberal hollywood not being able to make Natural Born Killers or Pulp Fiction would be viewed by them as un-american.. And the term mentally disabled with respect to criminal behavior will be protected with treatment instead of incarceration... Another liberal agenda..
