Do you believe laying off deputies, closing half the Mahoning County jail, and closing the minimum-security jail will help solve the county’s budget problems?

Lets put the criminals back on the streets so they can continue to prey on the good citizens of the area. You elected officials are Brain Dead!

With summer approaching these animals will know that they will get off easy. This doesn't make sense.

I'll love to know the thinking of the 15 that agree with it.

Blame Georgette Tablack... he gets the great deal and the deputies get the shaft.

The 1/2 percent tax was and is the same as when it was voted on 5 years ago, NO New Money. It is down in revenue with the economy, but that does not excuse large give a ways to the political cronies and unions when all appears to be going up.

Eventually the money situation changes directions as it has recently, Only problem is we never see any government organization budget for the the rainy day, they only react when times are down , and use the sheriffs department to scare everyone to vote to renew taxes or in this case I see in the crystal ball a new tax being proposed. Say a .025% emergency Safety Force Tax?

Remember the Emergency School Levies passed in the past? How many of them are ever removed? None they just budget to use it continuous.

Remember the crystal ball, Taxes and more Taxes,

We need reasonable reductions in operating costs division by division spread all the way across the county to keep us out of the red and still keep our county a safe place to live.

It does take participation by all departments not just mainly one or two.

ONE more thought that has been on my mind also, this taking two Fridays a month off to save money is a crock too, I think they could still work those days with actually taking a pay cut and not reducing services, you don't think the rest of us have done the same work with less through of this? You are sadly mistaken if you think otherwise.

Vindy, finally do your job and provide the investigative reporting that you went to college to learn how to do? Provide a valuable service to the community and stop being a puppet and mouthpiece for the political powers of the valley.

What are you Chicken? Do they have that much power to own you guys too?

I hated to re post this but I felt it was too important to not bring these comments back to a post that was still out front.

Put Wellington in a uniform and get him back on the streets on a regular duty roster. How long do you think he will last??

NEWSFLASH! Valley citizens in a distressed Ohio city take back their streets with roving citizen militia's traveling in pickup trucks armed with shotguns, stun guns and mace. They travel with American flags propped up in the bed of the truck and flapping in the breeze as they travel thoughout the neighborhoods.

Drug dealers who are caught get their fingers cut off, robbers get hands cut off, rapests get castrated, and murderers get hung out to dry under the old oak tree in public parks.

Sounds pretty exteme doesn't it, but public opinion is getting awfully fed up with our current methods and the associated skyrocketing costs. I remember the days when criminals feared entering certain neighborhoods in our city because they knew the conseqences were far worse than being caught by the police.

A police officer that I spoke with said it is a joke. You make an arrest, and before the paperwork is done, the moron is back on the streets. You have to put the fear back in the criminal. Punishment must be swift and harsh!! The criminals are laughing at the justice system in Mahoning County.
