If you socialists want to be treated like irresponsible children by big daddy govt., you have the right, be my guest. Don't forget Soc. Sec., Medicare, etc. are bankrupt. But don't be concerned, your children and grandchildren will pay for it by overwhelming higher taxes so they will have less freedom and prosperity for their own families and themselves. Big Daddy Govt. wants to keep you poor (Cap Gains, Inheritence, Income, Soc. Sec., Medicare) all taxes. Make $ you risked and can lose with $ money you were already paid taxes on and get hammered with Cap. Gains Tax. Leave you hard earned $ which you paid taxes on and you heirs on taxed again. Big govt. promotes hinder freedom, hindering incentice and prosperity and telling us it's good for us. lol.

No one knows the actual number, but from what I've read, The London Daily Mail could even be underestimating the attendance figure. Of course there were simultaneous TEA party gatherings across the country drawing thousands at each, and these are not included (obviously) in the DC estimates.

Maybe you could provide a list of authorities that I'm not allowed to use as a source, because it seems to be extensive. I'm guessing that you feel Air America, MSNBC and HuffPo are pretty solid. Better yet, why not use fact and reason to dispute the info I've presented. While you're at it, ask yourself why the Housing ACORN scandal is censored by the non-Fox media. This is a group with close ties to Obama and receives BILLIONS from the Federal Treasury. Why was the Czar Van Jones story essentially a Fox story, even after he resigned?

We need to find things that we all agree on (and there are some) and get those things done. Start with tort reform, do it separate from the other reforms.

I hope all Americans can work together for effective and positive reform, rather than the care-rationing and budget-busting Obama"care". HR3200 impedes progress toward actual reform, because it is a disaster that is dishonestly called reform.
This is no game. Serious consequences are at stake. Free market and tort reforms would reduce medical expenditures and reduce wasteful spending. It would reduce (rather than expand, like HR3200 does) coverage-based medical decisions and increase need-based decisions.
As long as HR3200 has a pulse, I hope both parties work together to abandon it for true reform.
It would be pretty hard for them to work together when you have one party that wants health care reform and the other party would rather do nothing.

The thing that concerns me is that the penalty of not providing healthcare was lower than the cost of employees providing healthcare and then the person would be put on the public option. 8% is what obama said... I would assume the public option is still there so that would be putting more people onto the public option.

I voted Yes because I hope it happens, but I have my doubts. There is far too much money, political power, and loud misinformed voices aligned against any kind of effective bipartisan reform package.

The insurance companies lead a small minority of the country to spread rumors, innuendos and distortions about the health care reform that is long over due. Insurance companies are against the reform because it would loosen their stranglehold and the ability to raise rates, drop coverage on the sick, deny coverage for preexisting conditions and cut into their billions in profit.
The Republicans and the so called conservatives want a health care system managed by private insurance companies who are the same companies that make those obscene profits by denying coverage to their policy holders.
I am very troubled by the "misinformation" that has been spread re: Obama"care". Here are a few examples:
It will be deficit-neutral. Am I supposed to believe that the nonpartisan CBO can't do math?
It won't result in rationing. The $600+ billion/10 years in Medicare cuts would never limit care?
It does not cover illegal aliens. Why did the DSP deny a GOP amendment to specifically exclude illegal aliens?
It is not yet another government takeover of the private sector (socialism by definition). How would a public option not lead to a single payer system?
The existence of "death panels" is a lie. Of course there is no creation of something entitled "Death Panels". But the intellectualy honest must ask themselves the function of the "Federal Health Board", and what the impact of their rationing will be.
Nonprogress.....Obama wants to create laws that make it against the law for an insurance company to drop you because you get sick, if you change jobs or insurance companies you can't be refused insurance because of preexisting conditions and you will not have to go bankrupt and lose your life's work as a result of illness even though you have insurance.
Let me ask you a question. Are you against these conditions becoming law? Think a moment before you answer. If you think these reforms should take place you are agreeing that the government should step in and do the right thing for it's citizens or do you think that would be socialism?
Cambridge, I agree with you that something needs to be done about companies dropping people because of illness... we should pass laws that seal that up tighter. I believe that would be under contract law so we should look there to fix that problem. As far as the preexisting condition problem we could solve that by having insurance decoupled from employement. Its not a problem if you don't have to switch insurance because of a new job.
Solutions rarely come from the government, just because we have problems doesn't mean we need some form of public option.
To reduce costs we need more doctors. We already have a doctor shortage and it is only getting worse. I haven't heard any ideas for how to get more doctors from either side... it's pretty odd we have discussion about healthcare and it isn't all that often someone mentions that we have a shortage of doctors.
