What the heck do the light bulbs have to do with the sales tax?

To all of the "concerned citizens" of Mahoning County that voted no, the next time you call for help, the next time you need an emergency crew to your house, or the next time a call to a rural fire department needs answered; remember it was YOUR NO VOTE that caused the delay! Thank yourself for this wondrous deed!

Hope and Follic, I understand your comments, however, shouldn't these service union contracts be examined for the wages they earn, benefits, working conditions, etc.? A large portion of citizens can't afford any more taxes, even small increases.

I want everyone to earn a decent wage, but how much can we afford to pay in taxes?

Union free autoworkers are not slave laborers. They have jobs and didn't have to whine and beg for a handout like the UAW and GM. It's time public service unions bite the bullet and stop living off the taxpayers' dime. GROW UP!

Why this county voted the 1/4% sales tax for the WRTA is beyond me. Either the bus is empty or there are a few riders. That quasi-government agency just got a boat load of money.

I voted NO! Can't the politicians reduce the amount of the taxpayers' money they are stealing? Why don't they negotiate larger bribes from the Mafia?

Jbully, unions are obsolete. Why, because they protect losers at the expense of the good employees. Unions also want to steal your freedoms by supporting higher taxes, national health insurance and priced themselves out of the market. Does GM and Mopar sound familiar? Why should productive, union free autoworkers subsidize spoiled, surley, complaining, overpaid dopes?

NO again in May. The county and Y-town needs lower taxes to attract businesses, not higher taxes. People need jobs and high sales taxes [Mahoning County] and high income taxes [Y-town] keep them away. It's time for some real deep budget cutting of numbers of county employees, pay, and benefits so that can be accomplished. Too much fat [Traficanti is a good example] destroys a healthy county.
