After reading your front page on Sunday, I am a little disappointed. Ashley Cuba (Mooney) made "all American", in soccer. She was the only "all American" in this area (let alone a girl) and did not make your write up. I know she is only a Junior, but so were a few of the other candidates. The other candidates are all fine sports but not one of them is an "all American". If you need any information on her please call her home in Poland. Thanks for reading my comment for what it is worth........Todhunter
I agree Todhunter. Good post. She is a great "All-America" player. If I'm not mistaken,I think she was also a two time District Player of the Year, State Player of the Year Runner-Up, two time 1st Team All Ohio and All U.S. Regional twice, etc.
I did get a chance to see Kara Cooper play and man is she fast!
Froggy and Tod Hunter (ref?),Thank you so much for the compliments. I do have to tell you that I have played along with or against every one of these girls and they are talented players. I do have to credit my success to all of my coaches (local and state) and teammates since we play the most competitive schedules in the state mainly against top-notch Div. 1 programs and club teams.
Normally I would not belittle the accomplishments of a talented athlete, but after reading the blatently transparent posts above, I feel that I must say something before she continues to compliment herself. Beyond having talent, to be a good player one needs to be humble and a team player. These are two qualities that Ashley Cuba is completely devoid of. The entire team is highly talented, and Ashley is the type who takes all the credit for wins and is quick to blame others for losses. It's not only Mooney students and parents who have seen this behavior; when going to soccer award ceremonies, parents and students from other schools cringe upon hearing her name. Not because she doesn't deserve to be recognized, but because she is not the most deserving and because she does not accept her awards with grace. She recently accused her teammates of being obsessed with her. Yes, "froggy" and "todhunter," Ashley was "All-American." But if I'm not mistaken, it was her handball that gave Hathaway Brown the free kick that allowed them to win 1-0, causing a loss and therefore disabling the team from reaching State.
Peachybubbles,I'm not exactly sure what your agenda is but your observations are blatantly wrong. Having coached that Mooney team for one season - and having watched them for the past two - I cannot fathom how anyone with any soccer knowledge could question Cuba being a team player. No one takes a loss harder than her and she never blames others. In fact, she puts the blame of every loss squarely on her shoulders even though that's rarely (if ever) the case. I'd like to know what other player in our area has worked as hard, 12 months out of the year, to maximize her potential. It would be a very short list and perhaps have just one name on it.I love how you say "normally I would not belittle the accomplishments of a talented athlete" but choose a screen name which hides your identity.
LouCali AKA froggy AKA todhunter, It's clear that you are up to your usual tricks of nominating Ashley Cuba and then stuffing the ballot box. Do you not find it odd that Ashley currently has seventy-six votes whereas the many of leaders for the of the rest of the sports are in the single digits and no other player has more than thirty-six? Or that none of the other sports have any comments left? Or that supposedly random people from the area know every award Ashley has ever received and say that people should call Ashley's house in Poland for more information? Sounds a little fishy...but then, maybe Ashley Cuba was right. Maybe people ARE obsessed with her...and not just her teammates but random people throughout this area.
Peachy,First of all, you're way off base. I have never been in a position to nominate Cuba for anything. I am neither Frog nor Todd. My name is out there. Anyone that knows me (and I'm quite sure you do) knows that I don't need to hide behind an alias. You, on the other hand ... not so much. It's really not worth my while to find out who has access to your screen name (which, if you know me, you know I can easily do). What bothers me is that I believe you're an adult. It's sad that someone of age would deem it important to rip a teenager. Especially one who's basically a good kid.I certainly hope you don't feel your daughter has been overshadowed by Cuba. If so, I truly hope your infantile feelings have not corrupted her. The bottom line is there is a big gap between the top player in this area (Cuba) and everyone else. That's not just my opinion, but the opinion of the vast majority of high-school, club, ODP and collegiate coaches.
lots of contraversey with this girl. None for anyone else. Maybe that says something......I vote for a clear cut real champ. Not a maybe with all the words...
Not sure who you think you’re fooling, Loucali/froggy/todhunter/ohiofan, but we have more than made our point. Go ahead and try to find out who this is because a) we're not just one person b) we are using a borrowed email address from a party who knows nothing about soccer and couldn't care less about it and c) the email address we used to get this “alias” wouldn’t tell you much (and that’s all the information we needed to give to get the "alias"). And for your information, we don’t have a daughter. You’re way off base with who you think you’re talking to. You are, however, awfully obsessed with someone who is not your daughter or player or…anything to you…and we know why. But it’s not Ashley's playing that we’re ripping on, and that’s what’s infuriating you most of all. Ashley’s a good player. Not as good as you think, maybe, but good all the same. It’s the attitudes of those involved and underhanded things you do that we are ripping on. If you are right and we are wrong, if Ashley really is as wonderful as you say, then we guess we wish her the very best as she finishes her high school years and moves onto college level soccer. We just don’t see it.
Just so you know, we don’t intend on ever returning to this site. So write back if you must, but like we said, we have made our point. Enough is enough. Continue your little game.
Oh, how I wish you'd come back. I'm really curious as to what "underhanded" things I've done.
im not a fan..//she's not even in the top 6 so it wouldnt matter if she had a million votes.
