I lived in South Florida, and, Illegal Immigration is really not that big a problem. If not for immigrants, there's a lot of work that wouldn't get done. Healthcare is the first need, followed by the economy (oil). Fix those two issues.

The economy is most important. Tax cuts won't fix this. Jobs will. Require all of the companies that ran from America to open shop in China, bring back 25% of it's manufacturing to America or heavy taxes be placed on their imports. Make it so it's cheaper to manufacture 25% here than pay heavy import taxes.

The most important issue, for me, is whatever Hussein Obama, Hillary, Huckster, or the great media tell me it is.
I grew up ignorant in the last two decades. I am worried about what is popular and logic and reasoning left my synapses long ago.
My peers are all contemplating surgery to alter their looks and several of my elders have resorted to injecting a form of food poisoning into their faces so they can become statues forever.
My government is the worst in our nation's history. My society is led by drug abusing, uneducated, selfish, self proclaimed VIP's who talk down to the people and only care about lining their own pockets.
I can forsee a revolution in the next few decades, but only after we fall from our perch as the number one super power.
Get ready everybody, it's coming faster than you think.

I'm sorry but these issues are only brought up by Dems., who wrote this poll John Edwards? I don't believe in Hillary care, where there are cut off ages to when you may get transplants (sorry 65 still seems young to me), and where it is to be funded by taxing tobacco. What happens when 99% of all tobacco users quit using because the taxes on the products are insane. I do however agree that medical insurance is way over priced and needs serious attention.
Here is where I believe our priorities should be. 1.Illegal Immigration 2. Gas prices (even though none of the candidates can do anything about it) 3. Economy 4. War in Iraq/Afghanistan

I do not agree with metrodawg. I do not know how long you have lived in South Florida, but it must not have been very long. I have been in Tampa for 7 1/2 years and illegal immigrants are very much a problem. My husband works in the construction industry and he can't find any work because of these illegals. They are under cutting the jobs. If they do not want to pay taxes get them the hell out of here. We are busting our butts to makes ends meet and we keep letting illiegals in everyday. Take care of our American citizens first. Our next president needs to focus on the United States before our country gets any worse.

I think that while the current economy must be addressed that is best handled by the fed via rate cuts. I don't think a Democrat led stimulus package of unemployment benefits extensions and handouts is going to help the country.

We need tax cuts oriented at stimulating the business environment and some way of getting some money into the the economy via the consumer. This could be via a tax rebate to individuals.

I think that the most pressing issue that we need to deal with today economically is what is going to happen to Social Security. It is going to be out of money in less than 25 years and while that is stilla generation away, it will force today's kids to pay a huge penalty for the mismanagement of this important support system for the nation. We need to fix Social Security and at the same time provide some form of investment vehicle for people who want to save money in a safe non-volitale fund.
