Considering the cesspool he is dealing with, you can't make a purse out of a sows ear.
Mayor Williams has done as well as anyone might do under present conditions - perhaps better. But he has very huge challenges ahead, not the least of which is whether funds will ever become available to make YO 2010 more than a plan. - Gabriel Palmer-Fernandez
His efforts are worthy, however; the Black & White trash of the city obviously; do not think so.
I just watched the PBS show BY THE PEOPLE. Jay Williams was there and I know that he had to be enlightened by the experience. He took on a tough job in a dying town. I personally want to thank him for his courage to do this. I am sure it was not the money that drove his ambition to be the Mayor of a dying city! I am so sick of you overly negative people. You need to find some good and run with it! We need to find something good about ourselves. For goodness sakes what are you teaching your children? I guess that most of you geniuses aren't watching PBS. Why don't you take one day a week to do some good, to say something good,it would probably change you as a person, and change our whole area into a better place!
I can feel a positive attitude coming to Youngstown, something we haven't had in my lifetime. I feel safer and less of a victim. That comes from the Mayor keeping his word.
On reflection the mayor has kept the city running and is getting involved in getting the surrounding area to think about their relationship with the city and continues to draw attention to the need for us to act as a region looking beyond borders.
The mayor has kept the city running and is forcing people to think about their relationship with the city. He is also getting the attention of the surrounding area working toward regional thinking.
I believe he has done a great job.
