If smoking is to allowed in private clubs, then why wouldn't spreading asbestos also be permitted? It also causes cancer, but is safer in that it doesn't cause COPD, Coronary Artery Disease, and Strokes.
If you want to start a club that sits around and sniffs asbestos, feel free. There is no law stopping you. Just don't try to file a lawsuit when you get cancer. Same goes for tobacco. If no one in the club objects, and their are no non-member employees to object (or raise OSHA issues) then to each his own.
The majority of people in the state of Ohio voted to ban all smoking in public places what don't the drug addicts understand? The only ones complaining are the drug addicts in this area. If they were to leave the Mahoning, Trumbull county area they would find out they can't use their drug of choice in public. It's not the majoritys fault that they want to be drug addicts and stink like open garbage cans. They can't go to New York, Fla, Nevada, Calif, Colorado, Utah, or any state that has let the public vote to ban the use of tobacco in puplic places ,
The people of Ohio voted.......no smoking in a public place including private clubs unless.............they have NO EMPLOYEES AND ONLY MEMBERS ARE ALLOWED IN ( NO FRIEND, SPOUSE, SIGNIFICANT OTHER, ETC ). What part of this law which was passed don't you understand?
HOW CAN THE GOVERNMENT DECIDE OUR RIGHTS? HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR GOVERNMENT CONTROLLING YOU AGAIN? WE SHOULD BE CONTROLINMG OUR GOVERNMENT. THEY GET THERE RAISES AND BENIFITS AND WE HAVE NO SAY IN IT. I UNDERSTAND THAT AMERICANS VOTED FOR SOME OF THESE RESTRICTIONS. BUT I SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO WEAR MY SEATBELT,SMOKE,DRINK,SAY GOD,AND PRAY WHEN AND WHERE I WANT. OUR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN CAN DIE FOR THIS COUNTRY AND WE HAVE NO SAY IN IT!!!!!!
I'm not sure I want someone to be allowed to "SMOKE,DRINK,SAY GOD,AND PRAY" when they can't even find their caps lock key or use the space bar correctly.
I've got great news for you! The people voted the smoking ban in . . . it was not government imposed.
The seatbelt requirement was put into place by our elected officials . . . through a process established by the State Constitution which the people ratified!
You DO have the right to say "god" or pray whenever you want! The ACLU and others have fought tirelessly to preserve this right for you and the courts have agreed. The ONLY limitation is that your prayers cannot be offered in such a way that others feel compelled to join in. And you cannot force others to say "God." Seems fair enough, doesn't it?
Also, if you disagree with any of these laws, you have the absolute right to protest, or fight to overturn them!
In other words, "the government" has not imposed anything on you. All of these things have occurred via legal channels that the American people have approved and continue to support.
So, AMERICANVOTER, you can sleep easy tonight knowing that your rights safe, and your country is in good hands! Unless, of course, you are one of those people who needs to feel persecuted and put down. In that case, there's really nothing that would brighten your day.
As an ex-smoker, I totally agree with the ban on smoking from resturants and public places, but I disagree on banning it from private clubs. If an owner want's to allow smoking in his/her establishment they should be allowed to do so and those they employee can choose to work there as well. I enjoy having a fine cigar and a good beer from time to time, but have no place to go. Anyone know where I can find a good speak easy?
Based on the numbers, it is possible, voters were not aware of how they were voting. Business owners invest their money and voters can vote to put them out of business? Seems wrong, doesn't it?
Fight for what ever rights you think you have, in this god forbidden state where i live (florida) you cant pray in public school, the pledge of alligence has been taken away because of the word god is in it and just today the DOE has passed a law that only allows evalution to be taught in school. As far as smoking goes, just put up a sign that says smoking permitted and that should solve that.
