Should Pope Benedict XVI have the Roman Catholic Church penalize church leaders for letting priests continue to serve after repeated allegations of sexual abuse?
If I read the question correctly allegations are not convictions. By voting yes, your menial logic throws the Constituton out the window and we should immediately fire anybody who is the subject of sexual allegations. The fact that you people inhabit society and are the majority scares me. Weak-minded fascists. I cannot wait until you vote Clooney and Limbaugh into office in the next decade.
As a Catholic... ABSOLUTELY SOMETHING MUST BE DONE.
It's sickening what has been going on and something needs to be done to make it known that these acts will not be tolerated. Throw them in jail or do not allow them to serve as priests.
I am appalled and embarrassed as a Catholic to have this stuff going on in my church!
If a shooting happens on the south side of Youngstown you think Huh? What? But if the shooting happens in a post office, it makes national news.
If a child in molested on the south side of Youngstown you think huh? What? but if the molsetation happens in a catholic building it makes national news.
The shooter in the post office is a human being and made a mistake, a priest is a human being that made a mistake. Don't condem the entire religion for what a few wrong doers did. The "act" was wrong and the offender should go to jail. An allegation is different and the priest should be allowed to continue their work until found guilty and punished.
Who said anything about firing them? The question is, should they be allowed "to continue to serve?" No, they shouldn't. They should pe placed on some sort of administrative leave until the allegations are resolved.
If they are found to be innocent of the allegations, then they should be allowed to serve. If they are found to be guilty, then they should be kicked out and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
How is that facism? How is that throwing "the Constitution out the window?"
Are you really in favor of allowing them to continue to serve children in spite of repeated allegations?
The question asks should the Pope penalize church leaders for letting priests continue with all these allegations. It seems to me if you suspend the priest you are implying guilt on some level and due process has gone out the window. The catholic church is under attack by all the fascists in this country and I think if every section of society were looked at there would be several cases of allegations where nothing was done. The entire questions revolves around quasi political undertones. Obviously, there should be an investigation and if found guilty, the people should reap the harshest penalty. That is not an issue. The issue is the attention that some groups get for things while other groups do not. Should Dann be suspended for all these allegations, if someone on the line at GM has come under allegations about drug use on the line, should they be suspended. Bill O'Reilly was accused of sexual misconductand he was not suspended. How many allegations center around congressmen and senators and I guaranteee none of them are suspended. I am not defending the church, merely showing that the media will highlight certain issues when the same thing will receive no attention elsewhere. The fascists like to show the ignorant what they want to show them and then tell them how to think about it. Differnt rules for different people.
I am a supervisor in an office of 15 of which 13 are women between the ages of 22 and 50...the other male is 52...I experience sexual abuse everyday...not necessarily directed towards myself but listening to female chatter constantly of what their boyfriends or husbands are doing or what they did to them and what they like sexually...One woman even went as far as to tell a few ladies what size her 16 year old son was when she saw him in the shower one day. Do I get upset? No. Because they do their job well and if that helps them get through our demanding day...then so be it...Who is to deny regardless of color, faith or country that adultery, incest and sexual misconduct does not exist. Did we penalize or fire President Clinton for his sexual misconduct...Hell...his wife might be President soon!

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words may never hurt me. Now I can go back to my regular schedule of only reading The Vindicator obituaries.
For clarification: Now I can go back to my regular The Vindicator reading schedule of the only thing I read from The Vindicator is the obituaries.
:)
I'm going back to reading the obituaries.
